Though I emailed as to my arrival, I still had to wait 90 mins. for the caretaker to return and open the door. Not sure where he was. First room was ok, but faced the street with all the accompanying noise problems. Asked to switch for the second night. No hot water, but it didn't matter as the shower was... More

We stayed here because we wanted to stay in the Old Town after sepnding a couple nights in Mariscal; this was a Lonely Planet recommendation. It needs to be taken off their list. The place was a dump. The bathroom was not clean, there was no shampoo or soap; the water was literally cold -- we had no hot water... More

I stayed at the La Posada Colonial on Garcia Marino Ave. I know there are two hotels in Quito with the same name and the other one is not as good. The location was great one block away fron Plaza Grande by the Presidential Palace. The room was right on the street side so bring ear plugs as it get... More

One of my favorite hotels during my recent trip to South America. This hotel was in a fabulous location and was absolutely elegant! I still can't believe how affordable it was. I stayed in a big beautiful room with a balcony. Gorgeous room. Wonderful, yummy breakfast included in a nice restaurant setting. Safe and gated. No internet available. Hot water... More

There are two hotels in the Old Town of Quito with this name. We are told that one of them is in a less desirable area. The one we stayed in is on Garcia Morena near Plaza Grande. The locatiion is excellent as there are a number of restaurants and coffee shops less than 5 minutes walk. Also a number... More

Apparently there are two Posada Colonial's in Quito. This is the one of Garcia Moreno and Mejia Streets one block from the Plaza Grande and sandwiched between two quite upscale hotels, the Plaza Grande and the Patio Andaluz in Quito's colonial "Historic Old Town". We loved this place! The hotel is on the 2nd floor of a beautiful old building,... More
