Nice "local" hotel very close to the center of the city. On a quiet street, clean comfortable rooms with private bath. The staff was very attentive and helpful - (although most did not speak english). Very interesting decor with many unique one of a kind handi-works adorning the interior. Nice breakfast service and dinign area. If you are looking for... More

This was my first trip to South America. I was excitedly anxious but later put at ease. I spent four nights at this location. Polite, attentive, very friendly staff and met all my needs. I requested a pick-up shuttle at the airport, which I found without a problem. The location is on a residential street but its within walking distance... More

I was very disappointed by the poor service at the Sol de Quito. I had booked an airport pickup, but no one came to get me. I had booked a day trip offered by the hotel weeks in advance, but discovered that it was not actually booked until I reminded them at check-in, and they scrambled at the last minute... More

My wife and I stayed at the Sol de Quito before and after traveling to Machu Picchu. The hotel has a very stylish decor with many interesting murals, paintings, furniture and artifacts. Our room had comfortable beds, TV, a good bathroom with plenty of hot water and a lovely balcony. The continental breakfast (with egg) was excellent with fresh fruit... More

We stayed in Sol de Quito on two occasions during the Ecuador leg of our journey. It is cute, quirky, homely and clean. We felt safe there. The reception staff are very helpful, most of them speak English, and the ones that didn't were very patient with our stumbling Spanish. The bedrooms were clean, warm, and safe. The beds are... More

We stayed here for two nights in a family room ("Guayaquil"), with an en suite shower room. The room was spacious and beds were firm but comfortable. We had tepid water in the shower at best. The lighting was dim, but the children enjoyed a bit of English language cable TV... The receptionist and dining room staff were all friendly,... More

Sol de Quito is a very charming little place to stay, lots of character! The staff are extremely helpful, and it's very clean. The rooms are comfortable, but be warned the mattresses are VERY firm! Breakfast is good. More

Everyone at this hotel was very friendly and caring - even if not all spoke English as noted in their description. Breakfasts were made to order and very good - Staff very helpful, especially Ivan. Yes, our bed was VERY hard and our room was facing the street so it was very noisy --lighting was poor if you want to... More

While it was a cute place, we were paying quite a bit of money in Ecuador to have cold showers every morning. Additionally, check your bill at the end. I was with a group of 14 people and every single on had extra charges on it. I was charged $147 for one dinner. More
