Hands down the worst place we stayed in several of our trips to Central or South America. And no, it wasn't confused with another hostel/hotel. The owners lost our reservation, were rude, the rooms were dirty and noisy, and they tried to over charge us. The only good thing was its location, a short walk to the historic district along... This hostal is lovely. It has a lovely court yard where you can sit and enjoy the sun. We were travelling in a group of 8 and had a large room. There was no window in the room. We had a toilet and sink adjoining our room but there was also a bathroom and shower close by. It was clean... More

When we arrived at the airport, our taxi took us to a hotel named something Rosario. It was not until they could not find our reservation that the clerk realized we were in the wrong accommodation. This was our poor luck. In Ecuador they use hostal and hotel interchangably. We have been to three hostals that were actually hotels. This... More

We arrived in Cuenca some time in November 2012 planning to stay for 2 nights but ended up staying 5. Apart from the city being super beautiful, the hostel is what kept us wanting to discover more. The owners and the staff make you feel like you´re at home with a family rather than staying at a hostel or hotel.... More

We arrived here at about 7.30 in the morning after a hellish overnight bus from Quito. We were both feeling really awful and feeling the effects of a dodgy meal in Quito the evening before. We stayed for 3 nights during which Luis and Dolores were so friendly, walking me to the bakery when I asked where I could buy... More

We agreed at the phone (we are spanish mother tongue) a 4 nights stay for 2 rooms, one for a couple and the other single, but at the arrival there was just a room for the three of us all together. So, that was the first inconvenience. The room had no wardrobe, there was not even an hanger in the... More

We had a lovely 2 night stay by the incredibly welcoming husband and wife that ran the hostel. There was a bit of a mix up with our room as we were given an upgrade to a large double with ensuite which had a nice hot water shower and towels; it was very nice. The couple gave us the room... More

We were recommended this hostel from people we met in Vilcabamba (see review of Rendez-vous - a great choice) so we were confident. We sent an email for a reservation that wasnt replied to, so when we arrived in the early evening and were buzzing but getting no response we were a little nervous. But eventually Dolores the owner appeared... More

I first have to say that we only stayed at Villa Del Rosario for one night. So this review comes from a small sample size. Our first impressions of the hostel were great. It is very clean. It is in a lovely old building with a nice courtyard. The hostess, Delores, seemed lovely. It's well located in Cuenca. There's a... More

My party of 3 recently stayed at the Hostal Villa Del Rosario for 1 week and had the most wonderful time! The Hostal is CLEAN and the Host (Luis) and Hostess (Delores) are wonderful people who make you feel like family. The rooms are painted in bright lovely colors; some have netting (like hammocks) hanging from the ceiling, all rooms... More
