While I paid a little more for my room here ($15 for a single) than I would normally pay at a similar quality hotel, the convenience, the location and all the extra attention the staff paid to me was worth it. It was really nice for me (a girl who travels alone and doesn't like to go out alone late... More

I spent few nights there and it was a very bad experience. My room was okay during the day but when the night comes the music from the night club just next door was unbearable!! It lasts until 6 am and every night ! The atmosphere of the hotel was cold and unfriendly. And the attached restaurant is very expensive... More

A simple place with a great ambiance, people from all over meet there, it´s beacuase it has it all. The location is good, just around the entertainment area but still quite at night. The serve very good "capuchinos" and the staff girls always smiling and helpful! Relation price - quality very good and the rooms are clean. I liked the... More

Yes, it can get cold in Cuenca, and 15 USD for a room might seem like a lot. And yes, it can be noisy at some given times. But this all aside. Its a romantic spot, in the heart of Cuenca. The restaurant has delicious food. You feel safe here at any given time. The showers deliver hot water. More

we arrived late on a saturday night and not much was going on, our dorm was spacious but the top bunks are rock hard and the pillows flat! after the first night we moved to a private room. nice and spaciousbut very cold! the next morning we were packing up to leave to find our shampoo had been taken from... Soooo...to be honest. My room was kind of expensive, $15 with a shared bathroom. It had two windows that looked into the restaurant, which was a bit wierd. Rooms were a bit cold, but when you complained they gave you an extra blanket. The food is pretty decent, but only if youre looking for touristy food. Their granola they make... More

Ten years ago I stayed at El Cafecito in Quito and had a pretty good experience. Using that trip as a reference I decided to stay here after my first choice was fully booked. When I arrived, I was taken aback by the attitude I received from the guy at the reception. He acted as me checking in was disrupting... More

We planned to stay here for 3 nights, but left after the first. Arrived in the evening, surprised to step in a pub-like place, with smoke in the air and loud music. There is no reception desk, you have to check in at the bar, it should have alarmed us already, but we were tired from an 8 hour bus... More

First off, it's more of a restaurant, than it is a hostel. There's no reception desk, you check in at the restaurant bar. Dim lighting and bad 90's music sets the trendy ambiance of this overpriced, small portioned eatery. Unfortunately for those who are staying at this "hostel," the restaurant is really successful. So good luck tying to get some... More

Cuenca is a pleasant city, but pretty tame by most standards. If you happen to be here stay at El Cafecito. It truly has it's finger on the pulse of Cuenca. I actually lived in Cuenca for a year, teaching English, and whenever I felt lonely and homesick I would come here and meet really cools kids from all over... More
