Casa de la Gringo is a comfortable plce with fabulous artwork, lovely rooms, helpful staff and a great place to meet other travellers. I was on my way to do the Machu Pichu trek. The staff were so accomodating to allow me to store my belongings I was not going to need for my backpack trek. I knew I had... More

I enjoyed staying at Casa de la Gringa during my time in Cusco. A friendly and inviting place with really relaxed and cool people. The staff is great and will help you make plans or give solid information about the surrounding area. Mark and Simon are awesome and speak english perfectly. Really good fruit breakfast with bread and jam. Always... More

Friendly staff, very helpful. Good place to meet spiritually interested people. Very hot water in the showers. Beautifully decorated, homely feel. Free WIFI and computer with internet to use. Owners Lesley and her sons Mark and Simon are really nice people with a lot of knowledge about Peru and what to do here. Lesley has an amazing house/garden space by... More

went to Peru for a month, and this hostel was not great - location was good - the rooms were poor, electric plug hanging out of the wall (the owners are German - so there is no excuse for this) i did point it out to the staff, it was never fixed. The kitchen were breakfast was made, was really... More

I stayed at Casa De La Gringa 1, and the associated mountain house in the hills over looking the ancient city of cusco, from June until september. By far the cleanliest, friendliest and most helpful hostel I've ever stayed in. Loved the vibe of the relaxed visitors that came through and the art oriented atmosphere of the set-up. If you're... The staff are great, the location is ok but honestly this is a terrible setup. Bathrooms are practically outdoors, which means icicles at 4am. There is no sunlight until midday so the whole place is freezing, This is a tough one to review because technically the staff and the business itself is fine. They could certainly use some small heaters... More

This hostel has mixed reviews on most websites & I can see why. The rooms are ok but noisy & uncomfortable beds. The location is great & the staff were lovely. Breakfast was basic but this seems to be the norm in Peru More

$30 for a double room with a shared bathroom is ludicrously overpriced, even in Cuzco. I completely agree with previous reviewers about how cold this hostel is with drafty, freezing rooms with no heating. there were huge gaps in the windows and doors and we ended up stuffing toilet paper in the gaps in the window frame in order to... We stayed here back in june 2010 for a few days either side of doing our trek to macchu picchu. Not only was the place freezing cold, the showers even colder and the staff had little to no grasp on the english language at all...but as our bags were being so kindly ''looked after'' during our trek, they were actually...
