I chose this hostel on a whim -- just found it on a list of places and decided to stay there. When I first arrived in Cuzco, I waited at the airport for about 25 minutes for the "airport shuttle" that was promised to come retrieve me. When I realized this was not going to happen, I grabbed a cab... More

Four of us stayed at this hotel immediately before and after hiking the Inca Trail. Double rooms consisted of either two twin beds or one double. In addition to the bed, furniture included nightstand, television, and sometimes a rack to hang clothing. The rooms had en suites with sink, toilet, and shower. Breakfast was included (this entailed juice, tea/coffee, rolls,... More

Only one thing marred our visit: I woke up in the morning to a slight scratching sound, and then saw a rather large rat run out of my room. We checked out and went elsewhere the next night. If one leaves aside the rodent problem, I'd say the only other issues are (a) high ceilings which keep the rooms cold,... More

My traveling goup of 4 adults stayed in 2 double rooms at the Pirwa Bed & Breakfast (AKA Hostal Familiar) in September. Our rooms were right off the central courtyard/common area of the hostel (I think they all are?), so if people were making noise in the common area you'd hear it but during our stay it was quite peaceful.... Really liked this hostel. Good rooms with ensuite facilities. Nice stonework wall in room made for a good atmosphere. Bit noisy in late evening as lounge area is in centre area surrounded by rooms with the room windows opening out onto it. So if your up very early to catch the train to Machu Picchu and some other guests decide... More

Hostel covers off all the basics: Clean, roomy, good staff, great location and secure... They even provide a room heater (although you might need to ask for it). Only problem is the noise in the rooms from the nearby pubs/clubs. Music plays loud all night, and seems to come through the ground right through the bedrooms. Would recommend, unless you... More
