We stayed in the Monasterio for two nights and had a wonderful stay. I did feel that the hotel was just too expensive, however. We got upgraded to an amazing suite, which was probably a result of our travel agent having booked a room at approximately $800 per night. The room was pretty amazing and we felt better about paying... More

This is a great hotel. Rooms are a little small, but excellent location. Service is great overall, but front desk people are less than honest. They were going to charge for extra person and. I showed them the print out that we pre paid for 3 people. They took a copy and said we are fine and need not pay... More

This hotel exudes charm...not the normal experience. We were actually on a Tauck Tour which in itself was fabulous. The hotel is very centrally located in Cusco and as you enter through the large wooden doors you enter another world.....almost a little mysterious. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and decorated for the time period. We were extremely tired... More

This hotel has real  character, a great location, and great public areas but the rooms are incredibly tired and the service very very uneven.  The place needs a really good refurbishment and a much much greater focus on quality control when it comes to service.  For the very high price that they demand, guests have the right to expect far... High in the Andes Mountains at 11,000 feet in the historic Inca city of Cusco, Peru, this hotel is all style and luxury. This former monastery is located in the heart of the city on a very busy square. It has magnificent paintings, a central courtyard with a beautiful fountain and gardens, cloisters, sweeping staircases that brought us back to... More

We arrived in cusco a little harried thanx to a lost bag (Never book an international flight on Orbitz. They do not alert you of changes in flight itinerary and it takes hours on hold to make any changes. It is much better to book complex trips with connecting flights directly through the airline). Anyway, the service at the hotel... More

My wife and I just returned from a 7 day trip to Peru and part of our stay was spent at the Hotel Monasterio. Overall, this hotel is very nice. Service was gracious and prompt and our room was nicely appointed. Food was average. Although some reviewers have said that the hotel pumps oxygen into your room at night, I... More

This hotel is nothing short of spectacular. The original features from when the property was a monastery make for a visual feast. The delightful courtyards are picturesque with water fountains and well manicured flower beds. A constant flurry of staff keeps the atmosphere feeling exclusive, there is no doubt that the staff I encountered at Hotel Monasterio are second to... More

All the rooms are wonderful!!! Those saying the rooms are 'dated' are missing the point of this hotel. Hotel Monasterio, part of the Orient Express chain, is a converted monastery built in the 1500s on the foundations of an old Inkan palace. This truly is a special spot, with unique original rooms, impeccable service and staff that always go above... More

The restoration of the hotel's public rooms is fabulous, but the rooms are tired small and hardly worth the enormous cost. The beds are uncomfortable, the bathrooms outdated, the absence of decent light notorious, and the furniture all scoffed and shabby, not to mention ugly. The concierges are lazy and unhelpful, even though the rest of the staff seems very... More
