We stayed in two of the Amaru's hotels in Cusco. Both are clean, well-managed, great places to stay. We acclimated to the altitude for a few days before a trek, left our gear here during our trek, and rested for a few days after the trek. The management did everything possible to make our stay pleasant. They arranged an airport... More

We stayed at Hostal Amaru for 5 nights and loved it. Great things about the accommodation: extremely clean, beautifully presented, great rooms, good service, good location, helpful management, great price. In a bit more detail: We stayed in the double deluxe room on the first floor. We were paying 59 dollars a night for this room. The room was a... More

We stayed here for one night. The rooms are basic but comfortable and clean. The beds were comfortable and the location was great. Easy walking to restaurants and shops and the city center. Breakfast food was good and served relatively quickly. They even had TVs in the room, which was a first for us on our trip to Peru. The... More

Stayed at amaru for three nights, the 3rd was after the lares trek. All the staff were extremely helpful with excellent English. The hostel (it really isn't a hostel, more of a 3 star hotel) is in a perfect location, just a 5 minute walk from the main square in Cusco. Laundry service was inexpensive and completed same day. We... More

Amaru runs a few hostels in the Cuzco area at different price points, we have stayed at two of them (the cheaper two) on three different occasions. Prices are fair, good hot water, rooms are clean, and staff are very friendly. On one occasion there was a reservation mix-up, but to the staff's credit, they arranged a room for us... More

The hotel is in an old building, rooms are small and basic, breakfast is average, staff is helpful. You need a cab for airport but if you are in good health and don't have too much luggage you can walk easily towards the city center. You will feel safe in the area. It is a good value for Cusco. We arrived here at the begining of a five week holiday. We were tired from 24 hours of travelling but the hostel sorted a pick up for us and this was great. The staff were lovely and everything was organised for our day trip to Macchu Picchu. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The room was nice with the... More

As far as hostals go this is top notch. Really hot water, clean, comfortable - a little noisy unless you're on the top floor. My wife and I stayed in two rooms and we were very happy with both. This is not a 5-star hotel, but if you have stayed in other hostels you may feel like you in a... More

Amaru was all you expect of a great hostal. Perfect location close to my favorite bohemian neighbourhood San Blas, cosy clean rooms with flat screen and hot shower, great value, and delicious breakfast. Also the staff was always friendly and helpfull. Like other reviewers stated; the top rooms are the best. Its not a party hostal, lots of couples and... More

The Amaru Hostal was an amazing place. It has beautiful gardens and the room we were staying is was beautiful. I would recommend asking for a room upstairs as they tended to have the nicer view! The breakfast every morning included an egg, bread and salad and was complementary. The location couldn't be better in my opinion. It was so... More
