I stayed at Kaminu with a group of teenagers before we went to the mountains to work in an orphanage. We stayed in the 10-person dorm and found it very comfortable. It was clean and cheerful, with warm colorful wool blankets on the bunks. The location is perfect, on a pedestrian street that leads down to the ocean past many... More

I just came from a month vacation in Peru. When I arrived to Lima I had decided not to make hotel reservation in any of the places I wanted to go just because I wanted to see in person where I was going to spend the night. At first I was skeptic about the idea of sharing rooms in hostels... More

I had originally booked w/ Inka Hostel but after reading "Tripadvisor" reviews, I ended up switching to Kaminu. The owner seemed so ultra cool, we emailed back and forth. I explained that we were a backpacking family and wanted to reserve the smaller room (w/ six bunk beds). He reassured me that everything would be fine. Then we arrived...the cab... More

Do it!! We have security cameras to ensure safety of guests and employees, but we can not place them inside the rooms or bathrooms, but in the areas we can ensure that there comunes. No sex in the dorm, we have no report of its part-time. We have reports of some noise from the guests which we regret and was controlled... More

I fell in love with Barranco and staying at Kaminu was a pleasure. 5 minute walk to the coast, 2 minute walk to Tio Mario ($5 steak-fries-corn plate), 2 minutes from the Barranco bars. Piero is the guy that runs the place - good-natured and always joking. Got great bar recommendations from one of the girls that works there too.... More

Throughout my five-month stay in Peru, I always found myself traveling and then returning to Kaminu. I was immediately welcomed and impressed when I arrived at Kaminu for the first time; the owners and workers helped me find the best places to eat, explore, and surf. The owner, Piero, lended me his own surfboard for the first couple weeks of... More
