Land at Montevideo airport (new and spotlessly clean), catch a cab (straight onto the main road into town) and follow the coast road past beaches and palm trees. Hang a right into the old town area then arrive outside.....the Los Angeles. Where's reception? Ah, that's on the 1st floor so cram into the tiny lift. It always stops at the... More

Hotel Los Angeles is centrally located allowing travellers easy access to the city centre. Only stay here if it is only for one night and you have low expectations. Wifi is really slow and only available in the reception area/lobby. The hotel itself is old and shabby. The decor is from the 70s and everything looks and feels dirty. The... More

Dirty rooms, broken air com, broken door locks, used soap, filthy carpets and decoration dating back to the 60's/70's in desparate need of upgrade. Breakfast is no better, no tea bread rolls only. Bar serves Beer or Whisky only !! More

Well, first of all, location is perfect is you want to be in downtown (which you probably want, despite the fact that some other areas of MVD are "nicer", but also have lower density of street life and restaurants, etc.). The room was fairly dirty, e.g., with trash on the old carpets, with a long strand of hair under the... More

This is a very odd hotel.. Reception is on the first floor and when you getting the rooms, they have a strange layout. The ceilings are very high and the bathroom has the toilet almost in the shower! In fact the flush is in the shower! Tv reception is rubbish and wifi is patchy. However, all in all, the hotel... More

We stayed 9 days at the Los Angeles, starting from January 2,2011. In fact we arrived there about 1 am of January 3. The first thing that really called my attention is its location, near everything, almost in front of the Entrevero Square and a very short walk from the Palacio Salvo and The Independencia Square. We checked in and... More

Some people will love this hotel, while others will hate it. And, they will both be right. I was in a nearby 4-star and unable to extend my reservation. Then, discovered every 'good' hotel was fully booked as conferences were in town. And, so began the dreaded trek of 1-star, 2-star, hospedajes, residenciales and pensiones. If you are ever in... We stayed there for 2 nights. The price was on the inexpensive side. But, this old hotel is needing of a makeover (the room reminded me of the Barton Fink's hotel room.). The hotel is big, centrally located in downtown Montevideo. A couple of blocks from the Old city gate. The staff was very friendly. The corridors are dark. The... More

This hotel has far too many rooms, the decor is dated and our room was dirty (there was a used ash tray in the room). We cheked out after one night and went to the excellent Hotel Iberia. More

The Los Angeles is a old hotel. Rooms are big and so is the bathroom. You do not have a/c but plenty of space. The beds are okay and the breakfast is basic but okay. You feel safe and the location is perfect. For the price you would not find a better deal in Montevideo. Book a day and come... More
