We stayed at the Hotel Cismigiu for four nights on our recent trip to Bucharest, and we loved our stay there. The hotel was easy to find from the Izvor Metro station, and about a twenty minute walk to the Palace Of The Parliament and the Old Town. There’s a beautiful park next to the hotel, and plenty of lovely cafes and restaurants nearby. We were delighted with our room, which was a suite consisting of a large living room with a little kitchenette, a large bathroom, and a fabulous bedroom. The room was immaculately clean, with good quality bedding and towels, lovely toiletries, and a very comfortable bed. The shower was great, and the wifi was fast and reliable. There was a coffee pod machine, with a couple of pods, but these weren’t replaced once used, so we had to buy a pack from a local supermarket. There wasn’t a kettle either, which was a bit odd. We had breakfast as part of our room rate, and this was okay, a continental breakfast with some hot dishes. We asked the guys at reception to book a couple of things for us; a tour of the Palace Of The Parliament, and an airport transfer when we were leaving. They did this for us, and everything went smoothly. We loved our stay at the Cismigiu, and would recommend it to anyone wanting a luxurious hotel, in a great location, when visiting Bucharest.

15 years living and working in Bucharest.. Never experienced this attitude to tips. Took Romanian side of the family for lunch today. I don't live here these days, so as a tourist. When the bill came, I only had 30ron in cash and as the food was ok at best and we had been treated slightly oddly on arrival I was ok with this. (Bill was 470). When she came over she turned to my girlfriend, who is Romanian and said that 10% was the minimum and it should be in cash. The waitress spoke English, so there me was no reason to not speak to me, who was paying. I questioned this when it was explained to me and was questioned about my money and that I was questioning if she was any good and that I must have a problem with the money.. At that stage my mil exchanged the 30 for a 50, and I told her keep the money as she made an issue if it but I felt that the situation was very manufactured and combative. I have never had this even in a tourist restaurant.... And this wasn't.. Very bad experience and could have been dealt with much better by the waitress.. Lunchtime on a Sunday in a very quiet restaurant

While the exterior is so historical, classic and elegant, the room interior is contemporary just like an apartment with kitchenette, dining room, one bedroom with twin beds, toilet with shower. It's generally clean but I saw water mark at the bottom of water glasses. Moreover, the cover of the kettle was broken so I eventually didn't boil any water for drinking. The buffet breakfast was excellent! I love it so much. It's a comfy room. Enough lightings. Two TV sets, one in dining room one in my bedroom. As many other reviews disclose, the location of this hotel is good, near to everything. The price is very good too. The downside of this hotel is about the noise. I was given a room on 2nd floor with balcony (I made special requests for high floor when booking though). It faced the main street. That means I heard a lot of noise including cars and youngsters' gathering. Well, I may close the balcony door to reduce noise but I prefer fresh air. Luckily I was too tired so the noise didn't matter to me.

Location is good, close to many sights, (old town is a few blocks away). While the lobby is unimpressive, the staff is professional. We had a suite, it was quiet, clean, modern. The a/c worked well. While it had few scuffs here and there, everything worked properly and was comfortable. The price was reasonable. Our room was on the back side of the hotel and was very quiet. The breakfast was decent and plentiful. Although there was no decaf coffee available.

Stayed with my parents for 3 nights in 2 apartment rooms in the hotel. Positives: The location was pretty good - central but not right in the middle of the going out area, which was good as bars and clubs have speakers on loud to attract customers / tourists. The room itself was modern and well laid out. Negatives: The biggest issue is problem management - so when a problem arises, there is not the sufficient help to resolve it. 1) We wanted to order food on the Room service menu for dinner. The QR menu for Room Service was not working and the front desk could not resolve it. The room service which was serviced by the restaurant downstairs, would not let us eat food from the room service menu in the restaurant. Neither the front desk or the restaurant could share a printed version of the room service menu. We waited for 45 mins before I essentially had to tell the staff they would serve us food in our room. A hotel which does not service room service is not a hotel!! 2) The safe was not working well in one of the rooms and kept locking out and therefore it was at times not possible to get into the safe. We reported that the safe had locked them out several times already and then at 5pm we shared we could not get in it, and it was only unlocked at 9am. We almost missed our Parliament tour that morning In summary the hotel is fine, and if there are no issues, it’s good value. However it is extremely frustrating if/when issues arise which are poorly managed.

Extraordinary Hotel in the center of Bucharest. Located in a monumental building, completely renovated, 5 minutes walk from the old town. Private parking in an underground garage with direct access to the hotel. Reception staff friendly and efficient, but a little distant. Large room with several areas: bedroom, living room, closet and bathroom.Very good Comfortable beds. Perfect soundproofing. Fabulous breakfast served in the restaurant on the top floor. Extraordinary view of the city and the parliament of Ceausescu. Attentive and friendly service Good quality-price ratio for the offer I strongly recommend it. If I return to Bucharest I will definitely come back

We visited the hotel whilst on a weekend break in the city. Wow the rooms were excellent; we had what was virtually a suite with a spacious lounge/diner and kitchen area. There was a good sized double bedroom with good quality bed and a well equipped bathroom. Was good value too. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfasts were varied and plentiful. Would stay here again.

A really, really good hotel, certainly worth the 4 star rating which isn't always the case these days. Service was excellent, the staff were very helpful and attentive. The rooms are huge and more like 1 bed apartments than hotel rooms. Rooms are well specified, everything looked new and modern, there was a Nespresso machine in the room witha couple of pods delivered daily by the service team which was a really nice touch. Location is absolutely perfect as its just on the edge of the old town (5-10 mins walk to the centre). The rooftop restaurant is an experience in itself. We had breakfast there every day and the buffet was a great mix, lots of options for vegetarian as well as meat eaters (we're a mixed couple in that regard). There is a really good view across the city from the balcony and the restaurant is heavily styled, very pink/instagram in a fun way without being too much. My only regret is we didn't make it there in the evening as there were just not enough days and we were there over easter weekend so it was closed for dinner across much of our stay. I would 100% stay here again.
