Thought I would try this hotel, as it was close to the hospice I was visiting. The building is typical of the communist era - large, foreboding public rooms, rouched net curtains (which haven't seen a washing machine since they were put up!), lots of dark wood veneer, masses of pillars to hide behind and 60's furnishings. My single room...

I visited Belgrade on business and stayed for three nights at the Metropol Palace. Staff were friendly and helpful. The building is large and was obviously a magnificent facility in it’s day (apparently one of the premier hotels in Belgrade in the 1960’s). The food exceeded my expectations – particularly the complimentary breakfast.
For the business-person, there is no wireless...

3 Star hotel, but very nice. Big hall, very nice staff, excellent food! Everything is very clean, heard that they will be renovated soon! If you need to travel to Belgrade, this hotel is definately a good choice! Excellent location ( in beautiful park ), good price.... I will be back for 100%, but for fun this time!

The hotel is surrounded by lavish gardens while located on a beatiful...

A hotel that 'I assume' had it's best days when built in the 1960's.
They advised that we were in recently renovated rooms...but if this is what you call renovated then they should sack the 'plasterers and painters'
A poor hotel at a high room rate price

I stayed at the Meropole for two nights in December 2004. Well it was very expensive for what you got. Although the hotel was built in 1961 I think the furnishings dated from the Napoleonic era. The hotel room was warm, but really old. Bathroom was pretty shocking and the TV barely worked. I only at breakfast in the hotel,...

The best hotel in Belgrade when it was built in 1961 in communist-monolithic style, the Metropole can still be described as "spacious", even "monumental", and the entrance lobby is vast. In contrast, the rooms can be small and the bathrooms cramped. Since the underfloor plumbing often floods, this is a disadvantage. To prevent 'surge' flooding, therefore, the staff have removed...
