Myself and my girlfriend arrived in Siem Reap and checked into the Ivy Guest House intending to stay a couple of weeks before heading off on our further travels. We ended up staying a month. We stayed in a fan room at the back on the top floor and found a spacious room with a nice sized en suite -... More

I stumbled across this place after checking out of a noisy, awful hostel and it was great! Ivy Guesthouse is really clean and has everything you need. The wifi is quick, reliable and works in the rooms. The food is cheap and tasty. Only 5 min walk to pub st, but in a nice quiet spot so it's quiet at... More

We booked an ac room to cool down from the heat. We got a room on the ground floor at the end of the hallway. Reading the good reviews we were really disappointed when we saw the room. We know you can't except too much for the price, but the room was a complete mess. The windows have thick bars... More

Hello. Thank you for your input, and we're sorry you didn't enjoy your stay with us at the Ivy. We'd like to clarify a few things. We are primarily a budget travelers guest house, and for the price we offer clean, but simple rooms. To say they were a complete mess, is an exaggeration to say the least. In Cambodia,... More

Stayed two nights in December and have been recommending it to my friends since that time! I felt a bit lost my first days in Cambodia but one of the guys at the bar was very friendly. I liked eating at the bar while he would test my level of Khmer (I am of Khmer descent) or we would chat... More

Hi. Sorry for the late reply. We're glad you enjoyed your stay at the IVY and thx so much for all the kind words. The veggie burger is one of our favs too. If you're living in Siem Reap now, you should come on Fridays to the Tapas Night...loads of veggie stuff. Maybe our staff will teach you some more... More

Everything's good in there. Clean rooms, nice balcony to chill, pool table. The restaurant is excellent, dishes are delicious. Just eat there, it's worth it. Vegetarian menu as well. Bicycles for rent 2$ a day which is for a humanitarian cause. Quiet and peacefull. Justine and Stephanie

My experience of Ivy was great. It was a comfortable place to stay. My room was a double with a fan and I was charged a very good rate. The staff were very friendly (in saying that, I found Khmer people to be generally friendly anyway :-). There was free internet downstairs. Plus, they have a vegetarian menu (as well... More

I stayed at the Ivy for nearly a month because I kept extending my stay as we liked it here so much! We had a double fan room upstairs and although it could get quite hot during the day, the fan was good and it was very comfortable. It also had loads of room for all our stuff - shelves... More

We didn't stay at the guesthouse, but we popped in here for happy hour and a light dinner. Good value, atmospheric place with a very good vegetarian menu, free wifi. Has the appearance of targeting backpackers, but there were a range of ages and clientele. The cheap cocktails were a plus! Service was a little slow, but we were on... More

A friend and I arrived in Siem Reap with little to no research done on guesthouses. Honestly, we chose to check out Ivy because it was one of the older places in town and had a pool table (I'm a sucker for 'em). I am so glad we found the place, as it ended up being a favorite of mine... More

It is close to everything and as it's tucked away your don't get bombarded by Tuk Tuk drivers. The room is so quiet and dark it is perfect for a good night's sleep. And the air con works! The restaurant / bar has various specials. At the moment happy hour from 5pm - $1 cocktails. The food prices aren't as... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The original Ivy opened in December 1999, as the second western run business in the Old Market (by a couple of months). Owners Karl & Vannary have been catering to Siem Reap backpackers ever since and provide a warm homely atmosphere in which to enjoy your time visiting Angkor and the surrounding area. The guesthouse has 20 rooms (8 single w/fan, 8 double w/fan and 4 double a/c) all with en-suite facilities. The current Guesthouse opened in 2005 and is conveniently located along the Siem Reap river just minutes from the Old Market area and the center of town, it has since been improved with more rooms, air-conditioning and wifi-facilities. The Ivy provides a perfect budget option in the heart of Siem Reap. The simple rooms are cleaned everyday and are great for travellers trying to get a feel of Siem Reap before the rapid development of recent years. Whilst Siem Reap and Phnom Penh have rushed to develop over the past decade the majority of Cambodians are still farmers and live very simply in the countryside. The pace of life is slow and relaxed and family is the most important aspect of people’s lives. The Ivy reflects this ideology and provides a fantastic atmosphere to relax and unwind after a day's exploration. Take advantage of the highspeed internet, unwind in the lounge, grab a hammock on the upstairs balcony or veg out on the sofa and watch some cable TV. The Ivy provides laundry service, bicycle rental, as well as bus and tuk-tuk reservations. Our English speaking staff are a wealth of local information and can assist you in booking trips to Angkor Wat and the surrounding area as well as inbound and onward travel. All at no extra charge. The Ivy and its owners also prides itself on making some of the best food at incredible value for money. Vannary is the executive chef and Karl the happy food taster. The all day breakfast is renowned and suitably large enough to sustain a long day out. The Khmer food is cheap and is prepared perfectly, this is complemented by an wide range of western favourites selected from menu created by a western chef exclusively for the Ivy back in 2001. There are also regular tapas and world food evenings and occasionally freebies of Vannary’s latest new dishes. Find out why we are a firm favourite of the expat community in Siem Reap. ... more   less
