This is a great hostel with basic rooms, friendly staff and good vibes. It can get a little loud in the evening but seems to not get to crazy. Located close to old Cartagena and near some good restaurants and bars. Worth a visit.

We stayed in a private room with 3 beds. The rooms are basic and the bathroom was TINY! It's a pretty average hostel but It's a good place to meet other travelers and they have a fun bar. The place across the street has a pool in their courtyard though so I would've preferred to stay there.

We spent 3 nights here in a private room with shared bathroom. The price was only slightly more than having both of us pay for a dorm,so we were stoked! The staff is very friendly, and the owner is around to help you book tours or have good conversation. People are CRAZY for complaining about the breakfast- It's the first... More

Rooms are nice (we stayed in a private), but all set around the communal courtyard, so can get noisy. Helpful staff. We did the tour to the mud volcano through the hostel (didnt like the guide, she was pushy). Breakfast included, but its not very good, just a pancake and coffee (which you have to make yourself). Good location. Overall... More

We stayed twice at this hostel with a month in between (they held our luggage which was great). Our initial impressions via email contact with Stuart the owner were very good, he replies quickly and with plenty of information. We reserved a private double with shared bathroom. These rooms are at the back of the complex which is good from... More

Stayed at the Mamallena Caragena for 3 days in April 2013 - great location but more importantly fantastic service. I had forgotten my running shoes and shorts there and the staff there were amazing...couriered my stuff to my hostel in Cartagena (plus free of charge). Thanks guys.

We were deposited at Mamallena Cartagena after Captain Sebastian of the Corto II cut our time in the San Blas islands short (read more about our high seas hijinks at pasturebraised.com/san_blas_panama/). Our original Cartagena plan was to spend three nights at Hotel Puertas de Cartagena for a little post-sailing R&R. But when Sebastian dropped six of us at the docks... More

I apologise again for the bad trip on the boat, I really do think that was out of character for the captain. We do always try to be honest in our dealings with the boats and if this was a common problem then we would have told you. I am glad you made it to us to us at the... More

This great hostel provides comfortable beds and spacious private rooms, but if you need a place to rest in silence then don't come here. It's located in the perfect location for drinking and late night snacks (just outside there are three bars, a taco place, pizza joint and a small stall for empinadas) They also have a pet dog and... We actually like to think we´re in the middle, a fun place but not too noisy nor too much of a party, That said, it does all depend on the people that are here at the time, and our courtyard is close to the rooms. We do try to control the noise but on weekends most people want a party... More

This is a decent hostel with a good vibe. Staff on the front desk are nice enough but certainly don't go out of their way to help you like at Marmallena Panama. We paid $55000 per night for a private room with shared bathroom. Shared bathroom was ok but probably not cleaned as consistently throughout the day for the number... More

We do try with the staff, honest!! And they are usually pretty friendly as you said, one thing here is that they have more work to do meeting certain government requirements, which means that they don´t always have the time to dovote themselves to the customers as in Panama. That said, we´re in Latin America and it´s very hard to... More

I stayed in Cartagena for about a week in 3 different hostels in all and Mamallena was by far my favorite!! It is very resonably priced and each dorm room has an attached bathroom in the room which is a nice bonus. There´s a great courtyard inside that´s nice to hang out in and stong wifi (a big plus in...
