Great service from Kaiya House staff. Had an absolutely amazing time staying there. Always there to help and advise on places to see in and around Varkala. The location of Kaiya house is ideal for first time in Varkala as it is very central to the cliff. The staff make you feel very welcome and help with anything they can.

Ran into Debra on the North Cliff as a fellow traveler and I were looking for a cooking class. Turns out we were too close to the end of the season as they had all ended. Debra overheard our conversation, made a few phone calls and offered us her kitchen and staff as a means to learn some traditional Kerala... More

Third visit now to Debra's place and first review on here - shame on me! I first visited in November 2011 and returned October 2012 and again in February 2013. Consistently excellent. The rooms are clean, the breakfasts are great, you decide what you want and Debra will make sure you get it, lovely big mugs of fresh filter coffee... More

We had a wonderful two weeks at Kaiya House in March. Debra was brilliant, nothing was too much trouble, from the e mail communication organising our holiday to arranginga taxi to collect us from the airport, not to mention waiting up to greet us at some ridiculous hour! Kaiya House was delightful with lots of beautiful artwork and furnishings and... More

The local information and advise was accurate and very usefull. Myself and Debra even had a trip to the local garden centre (bus mans holiday) but... More

Our time in Varkala was absolutely wonderful. I can't say enough about how our homestay at Debra's beautiful home, Kaiya House set the tone for our vibrant, adventurous, yet relaxing vacation. Debra and her staff were very kind and caring. The spirit at Kaiya House is positive and inviting. We look forward to another home stay with Debra.

I'm happy to join the parade of glowing reviews for Kaiya House. My wife and I recently stayed with Debra and staff for five outstanding days, and we found Kaiya House as clean, comfortable, and welcoming as the majority of the previous reviews indicate. Debra had our comfort always in mind and was the most gracious host and friend throughout,... More

Kaiya House offers something a bit different. Tasteful decoration with Debra's collection of ethnic art combined with warm hospitality and service make this a great place to stay. It's located a bit away from the touristy clifftop strip which suited us but close enough to walk there or to the local village and Varkala town is a short tuk tuk... More

We were greeted with a warm welcome from Deborah and a thorough and reassuring tour of both the homestay and local area, with numerous tips and advice to make the most of our stay.
