Our group of 8 ladies stayed in Vila Staman Asri which is located in a quiet area just off the Oberio compound. Noticed that the property has now been disabled, so the review is for Staman Asri, which is one of 3 villas owned by Simon. Consistent communication with Simon the owner, was great, and was very responsive and he delivered as expected on transfers and printouts of boarding passes etc. There are other vilas nearby etc Elysian, Yoga, Ahmi etc, which look quite exclusive with expected price tags, however Staman Asri is bang on buck for affordable R&R. Pros Breakfast was good, and we were provided with eggs any way, toast and spreads, with fruit, coffee and tea. Asked for some variety and got pancakes one day. Did enquire for some Balinese breakfast, but there were some issues with the cook, so that didn’t work out as planned, though I do think it possible for changes. Filtered water all day, with towels, shower amenities etc Was cleaned every day, and the place was quite clean, though the fittings and furnishings were adequate. The beds were comfortable, and sleep was restful with AC and mosquito nets There was a spa in front of the place, with great massage, and the ladies came twice for in house massage, from IDR100k per hour + IDR20k for in house service. Some Cons Pool was not cleaned adequately with leaves etc on it. The pump had to be switched on, so filtering was not continuous. The staff seemed unawares on this, and we had to prompt them for this. Only public beach access is via Ku Deta, but would seem adequate for beach lovers, as this is a good 10min walk away. However, access to and fro the main road requires an 8 min walk via narrow gengs/walkways. Turn left out of the property brings you to Oberoi, Ku Deta and access to Seminyak Market; Seminyak Square and Petinnget (8-10mins), while if you turn right, it’s a long walk (more than 10mins) to Jln Camplung Tanduk – Bali Joe etc. This is expected as its closer to the beach, but rather far off from the main parts of Seminyak. So it depends on what is required. Though if its seafront, best to stay at the hotels as they seem to hug every available beach. But we definitely got our 10k steps every day. Taxis from Seminyak Square back to the vila was IDR20k or less, so that’s a good option after a weary day trawling the shops in Seminyak etc. Kuta is IDR40-50k away by taxi. The space is most comfortable for 6 pax, with proper beds, while the 3rd bedroom on the 1st floor didn’t have a ensuite like the other 2 rooms, and required a trudge up and down some steep steps to access the shower toilet on the ground floor. This room had a queen and 2 mattresses, on an elevated space. As a suggestion, the larger rooms should have more beds (single beds rather than mattresses), to accommodate more people, while the upstairs room should just remain with 2 pax only. Was quite comfortable overall, with amenities as expected for a relaxing break. However, in future, may either stay here or somewhere else depending on needs and group size. …
