Siladen is a beautiful, idyllic island in Bunaken National Park. Just 25 minutes by speed boat from Manadao Port and the port is 30 minutes by car from Manado Airport. Bobocha Cottages has only 8 cottages and the rooms are directly on the beach with reef and dive boat just metres from your door. Bunaken National Park has so many wonderful dive sites all just 10-30 minutes away by boat. The dive boat picked us up each morning just metres from our breakast table on the beach and brought us back after 2 dives for lunch. This made diving so easy. Staying at Bobacha all meals breakfast, lunch and dinner are inclusive and communal - although you can request as we did (family of four with two teenage children) to dine privately on our last night which was magical on the beach shore, under the full moon. The table set up was beautiful and the staff had taken great care. The food is different each day (apart from breakfast) and we especially loved the diners - we are seafood lovers (but meat was also served) whole fresh bbq barracuda, yellow fin tuna, mahi mahi, giant bbq prawns... and great salads and yummy chocolate brownies. Sarah and her team are fabulous hosts - very friendly and helpful. The rooms are quite spacious with a bathroom and wardrobe area and wooden terrace balcony at the front facing the sea. Our rooms had aircon and the electricity operates 6pm - 7am. This was not an issue for us as we were diving in the morning but occasionally on a very hot afternoon it would be nice to retreat to an aircon room! The beach front though is very shaded by lovely sea almond trees and there is a swimming pool too. We enjoyed some great afternoons snorkelling on the house reef and a surprisingly fabulous night snorkel on the house reef - seeing octopus, eels, rays etc - Andreas from the Bobocha team was a great guide. You can also walk around the whole island at low tide takes 1 hour at other rimes you can walk 3/4 of way around island. We left feeling we had stayed much longer than our 7 nights - super relaxed. A little piece of heaven we would like to return to one day. Thank you very much Sarah and all the Bobacha team - we had a wonderful stay with you.

We stayed here in August 2018. It was our first trip to Indonesia and we wanted somewhere off the beaten track with fabulous unspoilt reef for diving an snorkelling. Sladen Island was perfect. The reefs off shore are the best we have ever seen, and we have dived all over the world. In fact, the snorkelling was sooooo good that we didn't even do any diving! Everyday we hired a boat from Bobocha cottages with driver and guide and took our 2 children age 9 & 12 out snorkelling on different reefs for 3 hours. Our boys made friends with the local children and played football on the beach with them. There are only around 3 places to stay on the island (I think) and we opted for Bobocha due to the heartwarming reviews. We were not disappointed. Sarah and her team looked after us so well. The food was absolutely amazing every day and you eat outside on a long table under the stars, absolutely magical. We played monopoly by night and got early nights ready for a long day of snorkelling. Wonderful. Ria was like having a mum there looking after you - even sourcing fresh aloe vera for sunburn. Wonderful place!

If you're looking for a true "unplugged" island experience with little/no Wi-Fi, electricity or air-con, then this is the place for you. Good: Food: really excellent and very tasty that caters for all dietary requirements. The food is bought from the local areas and freshly prepared. Possibly the best food we had during our indonesia travels. ------- Accommodation: very clean and spacious. ------- Staff: very helpful, professional and friendly, plus they are really informative about the local area. ------ Activities: snorkelling at a reef just off the beach. There are lots of live corals and colourful fish. Bad: Cost cutting / saving by the owner was evident which subsequently made our 140 EUR/night feel like a hybrid between a budget hotel/hostel and a wannabe resort: - Wi-Fi: this consists of a mobile phone as a tethering hotspot which enables only 3 guests at a time to connect and is dependent on signal. We had 7 people staying, which meant little / no Wi-Fi. - Electricity: this goes off at 06.00 until 18.00 which makes it impossible to use the fan after 06.00. We knew about the electricity times in advance, but underestimated that: 1. We would need the fan on until we got up for breakfast at 08.00 - too hot. 2. Showers aren't possible through the day until the electricity is back on at 18.00 (no water pressure). So don't expect a shower after diving or snorkelling until 18:00. - Over priced transfers: a transfer to Manado airport is 35€ per person one way or 70€ return per person. We used Kuda Laut (neighbour resort) they do a private transfer for half the price; 35€ return. It is possible to take the public boat for even less (if you don't mind sharing and then flagging a taxi). - Over priced tours: snorkelling or dolphin watching only available as a private tour at Bobocha at 100 EUR for up to 4 people (minimum of 4 people - so 2 people would still pay 100 EUR). Kuda Laut offers snorkellers to tag along with divers for 10€ pp incl a snorkel guide, water, tea, coffee & biscuits for 4 hours. - Drinks: limited selection and overpriced. Again, we used Kuda Laut for drinks that weren't available at Bobocha. - All meals included: lunch is not provided on the day of arrival. All other resorts with full board offer lunch on the day of arrival. If you want this at Bobocha, it's 10€. - The owner Sarah was lovely & accomodating for guests, but we could hear Sarah being quite bossy and controlling with the staff which made us feel uncomfortable; we never experienced that anywhere else in the world. We usually like an "unplugged" experience, but only when it is marketed as that and is better value for money. If you're looking for a place to stay for a similar price with a true full board option and no limitations on electricity and Wi-Fi, then Kuda Laut would be more suitable.

If you love diving or snorkeling this is a wonderful place to visit. Our very comfortable room in a typical wooden Indonesian style cottage was right on the beach . Depending on the tide you can just wade out to a fantastic reef. Also the resorts boat will take you over to Bunaken for more underwater vistas and out to see dolphins playing. We were also lucky enough to see turtles hatching Lying on the beach and watching the sun set behind the volcano was memorable. Sarah who owns the resort goes out of her way to make your stay enjoyable. I am a vegetarian and this is the 1st holiday I have actually put on weight not lost on a holiday ! you arrive as a guest but feel you have become a friend by the time you leave. This is a small eco lodge which has no electricity in the day and limited at night so you cannot use a hair dryer. Also there is no freshwater for showering. For us these were trivial things as everything else was fantastic. But this is not an ideal destination for anyone wanting T.V , 24 hour Wi-fi. or 5 star facilities. We can only thank Sarah again for a wonderful stay and we look forward to returning. Lee Cape Town South Africa

We stayed at Bobocha with our 2 small children ( aged 5 and 7) for 10 nights in April this year - and we loved it. It's a small, very personally run hotel, and was exactly what we were looking for. ( This is an important point - if you are looking for a more anonymous resort experience with wi-fi, tv, aircon, restaurant with extensive menu etc this is not going to be for you. If you want a genuine experience staying on Siladen, unplugged, exporing nature and enjoying fresh, local, beautifully prepared food, then this is your place). We stayed in the family cottage which worked really well for us since there is a double room, and second bedroom with 2 single beds. The cottage was very clean and comfortable, showers were hot, and fans worked really well at night. Even if we had had aircon we wouldnt have used it since we were really comfortable at night (and certainly not during the day, when we were busy snorkelling on the Reef...). The reef is directly in front of Bobocha, so its ideal for snorkelling, which we did for 10 days with our 2 small kids and didnt experience any dangerous currents. Sarah also kindly let us use 2 childrens lifejackets, which was really great. We also booked a trip with the resort boat to see dolphins one morning which was a higlight of our stay. Andreas (the captain) is a local and is very knowledgeable about all the marine life in the area. Sarah also organised massages for us which were really good and professional. If you enjoy not only seeing fish but eating it too, you will love it here, since Sarah buys all her fish from the local fishernen and prepares it beautifully. ( If you are not a fish fan, like our kids, Sarah also goes out of her way to accomodate you. But I think to get the most out of staying here you should enjoy eating fish. The tuna sashimi was amazing!!) There isnt much to do apart from snorkelling and walking around the island ( which is lovely and easily manageable with small kids), so this is something to bear in mind if booking a long stay. For us it was perfect, but I can see how families who need more action might get bored. I would really recommend Bobocha, its a wonderful place, but you need to do your research properly and make sure its what you are looking for!!

We are a family of 4 that spent our last four days of our trip to Indonesia in Bobocha Siladen. The ecolodge is a very nice place with very friendly staff (especially Ria). The food is amazing and very varied. The snorkeling is outstanding just meters ahead of the hotel. Additionally, we took the snorkeling guided tour in Bunaken offered by the hotel and was amazing. Thanks to Andreas we could see turtles, baby sharks, stone fish among other things. If there’s something to be improved is the price of the transfers from/to Manado as well as the price of the tours organized by the hotel. Thank you so much for a fantastic stay!!

Bobocha Siladen, what could be a good and honest review for this place? I’ve visited Bobocha Sept. 2017, but I finished this review a year later. So a few things could have been changed in the meantime. First of all the location. It's situated on the small and bea-ti-full island Pulau Siladen, close to her larger, busier and more famous brother Pulau Bunaken. The island only has a few (4) options to sleep/relax and chill and Bobocha is just one of them. Directly behind the resort is a tiny kampung (village) with a church and a few houses. There’s a ‘small shop’ just to buy some basic stuff like soup and sigarettes in the mayors house and that’s really it. From all of the wooden cottages you have a lovely view over the wide beach (in the front or from the side). You can chill on your own small terrace, just in front. The cottages have different sizes, we had one for 3 persons. The size is average and spacious enough for the 3 of us. There is also a separate closet to put your bags in, hang your clothes and it includes a locker. Besides this the room has a fan (no airco) and a sidetable to put stuff on. A big mosquit net surrounds the big bed. You don’t need more! The bathroom is spacious and clean. The whole team puts a lot of effort to keep your cottages clean everyday, so big compliments for that. There is no wi-fi in the rooms, only at the restaurant, but hey why you need wi-fi when you’re in paradise? There are only around 7 cottages and a main (and old) restaurant/office. At the time we where there they were building the new restaurant, it should be finished by now. In the middle, directly at the beach under some big threes there is one large table where all guests have breakfast/lunch/diner. So you eat together with the few other guests. The manager Sara and the chefs prepare some delicious meals. From sweet pancakes in the morning to excellent Indonesian fresh tuna in the evenening. If you like it more spicy just say so: they prepare you a delicious, fresh and spicy sambal! Big plus is that the kitchen keeps everyone's personal taste in mind. Directly in front of the private beach you will find many corals and all sorts of fish. That means you can snorkle as much as you like. Just beware of the strong current. If you would like to do a daytrip to Bunaken (just 20 minutes away) or dive, the resort can arrange it for you. They have a massageservice right on the beach. Not all of the staff speaks English, but most of them do, some even fluent. Everybody is very helpful and happy to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Conclusion: If you want to enjoy the beauty of the Bunaken area, but don’t want the crowd, enjoy more luxury and want to benefit from the perfect service Bobocha offers, please visit this place. The view from the private beach to Bunaken and pulau Manado Tua is excellent!

Having read some great reviews on tripadvisor re this property we were expecting a really good experience. Unfortunately we were let down. The beach and the island were great with a good reef not far off the beach. However the rooms were crammed into a small plot of land which is squashed between villagers houses, with the associated noise and lack of space and privacy. The property has very few facilities and at this price we would have expected a bar area and a pool. The lack of electricity from 6am to 6pm left us without the use of the fan or running water for a shower. As this was the hottest part of the day this was very inconvenient. The owners stated that the generator is turned off for environmental reasons, this would have been more acceptable if they invested in some environmentally friendly solar panels. Breakfast was disappointing as it consisted of one portion of fruit and a choice of one item from a very limited cooked menu. Lunch was also mediocre with small portions. Long tables and uncomfortable benches on the beach were used to serve a one option evening meal, where only one main course was available each evening, at a single sitting for all guests. The food was plain and there was no choice as to what was provided or what time the meal would be served. In light of the high cost of the property we expected much more choice in relation to the meals as the island is only 25 minutes from the regional capital Manado, so a variety of produce should be easily accessible. Perhaps the owner could provide guests with some choices in relation to the meals before the food is prepared. The WiFi was also very poor. The lack of power meant that battery powered WiFi equipment was used which was clearly not fit for purpose. This should be made clear to potential guests. Also the boat transfer pricing policy could be improved. The cost of 33 euros is applied to each person, each way, to and from Manado. A taxi journey costs the same no matter how many passengers are carried and this would be a more reasonable way to charge guests. From our experience we would also suggest that the owners post warnings on the website in relation to the dangerous currents on the house reef. These can be very strong and could sweep you out to sea. Our visit was a let down in light of the expectations from the previous reviews and the lack of choices provided to us for lunch and evening meal.

When we set off for Bobocha Siladen, we were not sure what to truly expect, and we found something very unique, a place that was hard to leave. The boat transfer from Manado was less than 30 minutes and very comfortable (nicest boat on the island!) and you will disembark directly on the beach. The cute and tastefully arranged cottages of Bobocha Siladen are literally 10 steps from the water, and you will fall asleep listening to the sound of gentle waves crashing on the sand. Sarah, the owner (and chef!) is so attentive and professional, and her staff efficient and full of joy and kindness that simply can't be faked. Sarah was able to accommodate our dietary needs ("seagan") during our 8 day stay and produced dinners that were simply outstanding. We knew people had outlined this in their review, but that went way beyond our expectations. If Bobocha Siladen was just a restaurant, we would have gone there every day! Refer to pics! Breakfast has a few simple option and always fresh fruit, and lunch will keep you satisfied while you wait for your grand dinners. The beach is beautiful and the water crystal clear. Plenty of very healthy and colorful reef teeming with fish to explore in front and on the left side of the beach. Sarah also works with a great PADI Diving Center and we did our Open Diver course during the stay. Want to see turtles? You will , guaranteed! Bobocha Siladen is an eco resort, you will get electricity and hot shower from 6pm to 6am. It was plenty enough to charge a plethora of gadgets, including drone batteries, phones, wifi router (provided at no cost), etc... If you are addicted to TV and always connected, perhaps this isn't the destination for you. Siladen is peaceful, beautiful, it also a has village where 300 people live and you will meet them daily (and be asked for a selfie or two!), which makes it really special. It is quiet yet alive, and we found it the perfect place to escape modern lives and relax our minds and bodies. We thought at the end of 8 days we would be ready to go back. We were mistaken. A warm thank you Sarah to you and all the staff for a truly memorable stay. Terima kasih! Guillaume & Rihyang
