Overally its quite a nice hotel , compare to most hotel at Bukittinggi. Was arrived here at September '12, i were quite astounded by the view the hotel gave us. There is a few thing that actually that makes us need to rethink in case that we need to stay at pusako again. first thing is as david says, the lighting is kind... gloomy. and the second thing is when we reach our room, i noticed that our flooring is already in bad shape and some of the woods even already broken into pieces. other things that they need to improved is their telephone line. can u imagine a room service line is unavailable?? I need to call to the reception, and then they connect me to the room service, everytime i try to call 'em. Lastly, their breakfast is actually quite nice, until i saw few flies flying around the fruits in the table.

When we first arrived we thought the reception area was fine until I sat at the sofa and there was a stench of urine! Yuck! Our room was on the 2nd floor and as we came in we thought, okay.. this looked like the hotels in Indonesian back in the 80s. Vintage I thought until i saw the bathroom! The tiles were grimy and the sliding doors for the showers need a dose of WD40! The rooms are also not airconditioned at all so it was very stuffy at night especially since we had to close the doors as there were mosquitos buzzing about. The beds were hard and awful and pillows flat. We couldn´t wait for morning to check out. Breakfast was not bad. They used good butter which I am particularly happy about. Finally something to brighten my day. We came in a big group of 27 with my dad´s tennis team and in the bus, all the spooky stories came out. A few of the rooms were ´disturbed´at night. They all heard shuffling noises in their rooms but there were no one around. Another room had the toilet flushed all night long too. A ghost with diarrhea perhaps?

Old hotel which requires MAJOR refurbishment. Perhaps it was grand in its peak during 1990s when it was still managed by Sol Meliá. Sadly, now the grand ambiance is just a history.

The hallway is dark and eerie. Minimum lighting. So is the room. Old TV with very few local channels.

The bathroom is abit dirty with alot of mold. There's no nozzle.

We stayed there two nights because we couldn't find any other hotels due to long weekend.

This hotel has reputation for being spooky. Didn't want to believe it. But, in our first night, we barely slept as we heard something (like furniture) being dragged above us, people stepping and running above us and children laughing. These sounds started at about 10 p.m and on and on. We complained to reception three times and they said they've reminded the guests occupying the room above ours.

In the morning, when we complained again, the staff said that the room above us was empty. Weird.

The food is ok.

The staffs are friendly.

When we first arrived in this hotel (planning for 3 nights), everything seemed ok : the lobby, the restaurant, albeit it seemed a little gloomy.
First bad impression was when no one helped us to bring our luggage, that is very surprising for an Indonesian 4 star hotel (or even less stars)...
When we saw how dark the corridors were, we asked for a room in a place a little more bright.
Just before entering our room, there was bottle of beer right in front and that bottle stayed until next day.
Then we entered the room with the employee of the hotel, at first sight everything is ok ... but here comes the horror...
First, we wanted to test the bed and, as always, we checked the bed sheets : there were body hair on the bed. We asked the reception to change the bed, and they did.
Second, the bathroom was very old and dirty and full of moisture ... just look at the pictures that I upload with this review.
We were planning 3 nights and we wanted to leave right away, asking for refund, they refused and forced us to stay one night, at a higher rate that was displayed in the reception !!!
Anyway, we managed to stay one night, and in the morning we ate our breakfast (was the only thing ok in this hotel !) and we left right after !!!

The hotel need a total refreshment and new manager !

We stayed for 2 days in this Hotel recently this June 2011. We were told that the Hotel was a 4 star hotel. But i can give the rating for 2* only. The room was damp. A lot of cracks can be seen. The walls at the room is like yellowish in colour. AND THE WORST IS THE TOILET. IT IS DIRTY. YOU CAN SEE THE BLACK DIRT IN BETWEEN THE WALLS. NOT WORTH TO BE NAMED A FOUR STAR HOTEL.

Basic hygiene and cleanliness are very poor, had to ask for change of room as the first one was so deplorable, the substitute was only slightly better. My tour guy explained that the hotel had its heyday 15 years ago when it was still managed by Sol Melia. It has been managed by the owner in the past 10 years who apparently does not know about service and hotel business. My tour guy added that next time we should do like most of his Malaysian guests who just book a 1or 2 star hotel near the center of town which according to him provides much better value and good service.

We booked this place because there was no other option on New Years Eve. The hotel looks nice from the outside but the rooms are just awful. Dirty, not well maintained at all. Moulds in the bathroom.

The staff there were really nice and helpful though.
Not recommended unless there is absolutely no other place to stay in Bukittinggi

Valued for MONEY ! Staffs are friendly though there is a minor problems with communications. Going to town is easy and cheap if we know how.
My advice is to take the "ANGKOT"(small bus) which costed a person 2000 Ruppiah to go to town. If one like to try take a ride on the BENDY ( Horsecart Ride), it will only cost around 15000-20000 Ruppiah. The Hotel is chosen over "The Hills Hotel" based on reviewers comments which are quite accurated so far to my experienced. Its indeed a pleasant stay.
