So it's cheap and cheerful. I had two different rooms at the start and end of a weeks trip in Sumatra. Both rooms stank of cigarettes but be clear, this is an indonesian thing, not this specific hotel, smoking is endemic. Rooms on the front do suffer from street noise and the 4.20am call to prayer at full volume. Rooms at the back are simply a haven, quiet and really peaceful. All have the same facilities, free and fast wifi in the rooms, hot showers, comfy beds. There is a good buffet breakfast and an efficient laundry service. In my opinion this is an honest hotel and worth the money, try and get a room at the back if you crave peace and quiet. Medan itself is handy as a staging post but otherwise has little to recommend it!

The area to our rooms smell so much of tobacco. And our room smells of smoke too during our stay. Thank goodness that it was only for one night. There were so much noise in the hallway during the night. The place was booked for us by our guide so we did not have much of a choice. There may be non_smoking floors but we were not aware.

Arrived here late at night to be told I don't have a room - this was because they had booked me under Mr and not Mrs even though my full name was on the screen. The manager Ari said he'd recognise my inconvenience & the next day went back on his word & offered me nothing. When asked for managers details he didn't give willingly and served everyone and tried his best to ignore me. A very sad start to my tour and very very disappointed with the Ari who just didn't seem to care less Room ok - bedding had seen better days with rips in them. Noisy as on a main road. Can't wait to leave and pleased only here 2 night but 2 nights to long Wouldn't recommend staying here

i stayed here for 1 night (thank god) before i fly out of medan. i was traveling with my parents and extended families (total of 10 pax), so we took 4 rooms booked by our travel agent. upon arriving at the lobby, the bell boy was not that helpful with our bags and did not even try to offer to take our bags to our rooms when we started to pull ours to the rooms. upon entering our room, the temperature was hot and the AC controller was outdated (i have no idea it is from which year since i never seen this type in my whole life so far) - it looks like a gear change from off to low to medium to high indicators (nothing than these indicators). then the phone wasnt working and i have to walked to my nephew's room to call the front desk to send in technician to check on both the AC and phone. overall look at the furnitures, interior walls on the hallway and in rooms, bathroom to bed linens/blankets/towels etc - TOTALLY RUNDOWN!! (apart of this review, i also make a complaint to our travel agent that this hotel was the worst compared to our hotels at Parapat and Berastagi). also, out of 4 rooms, only 1 room has a window to outside view. the other 3 rooms has windows facing each other when they open the curtains and it makes their rooms quite dark which is definitely not suitable for claustrophobic peoples. on good points, room has free wifi (asked for password from front desk) and breakfast has plenty of choices.

I stayed here on my last day in Medan before going back to Malaysia a few years ago. The room with a queen bed (for two people) was quite small just enough to fit the bed. And we have to perform our prayers on the bed. Television was provided but the wall was too thin.

My husband and I stayed here for 1 night. It was totally overpriced, but they had an offer on at front desk, which made our stay 50% more affordable. Last room available was the Executive suite, which as you'd expect, was large and fairly comfortable. Nice bed and working TV. Bathroom was pretty shabby - old and very stained shower curtain, half used bottle of shampoo, dirty sink. Mini bar was switched off and empty. And there was a lingering smell of cigarette smoke from previous tenants. Communal areas downstairs are like gas chambers to non smokers. The foyer and restaurant area, are thick with smog. All the reception chairs and sofas have cigarette burns through them. Even security guards smoke in communal areas and other residents light up, around the breakfast buffet. Though smoking like this is prevalent throughout much of Asia, I think there should be a more concerted effort to protect non smokers and children by allocating areas with ventilation and fresh air. It really was horrid and our suitcases full of fresh clothes, now need laundering after staying there. Breakfast was included. A buffet full of hot Indonesian food - ok, but would have liked a lighter option available.

I was booked in a ghastly hostel a few doors down so walked out and managed to get a studio room here for 27,000Rp. It included private ensuite, flat screen tv, A/C, free water bottle, wifi, big buffet breakfast. Tv channels were great and there is a big shopping mall across with food courts, cheap clothes. convenience stores beside and lots of cycle cabs. This next to Masjid Reya and a prime area. Airport transfer was 200,000Rp but they said it takes 2 hrs. I took a cab to the train station for 20,000Rp and took the train which is only 35mins (cost 60,000Rp). They speak good english and took credit cards. They charge a deposit on top of the room which they refunded on check out. Masjid Reya, Maimoon Palace are walking distance. You can walk to the Sumatra State Museum if you have the right directions. Overall this was a great stay after the horrendous hostel and just what I needed to rest and recover for two nights. One small problem the bathroom does not have a sink, just a shower and toilet so a bit difficult to wash your hands or brush your teeth. Buffet breakfast was lots of food of all kinds so you skip lunch.

Medan is a wonderful place but it didn't get to my standard. There're many things to buy and it is also cheap. The hotels here are just ok2 cause it is not very spacious. There's no parking lot so it's hard for our driver to park his van around the hotel. For me this time trip is just okay.
