The hostel is located in a great neighborhood of Old Jaffa in a beautiful building. There is flea market around, as well as plenty of awesome cafes. It is within walking distance to the beach and Tel Aviv. Other than that: rooms of the size of prison cells. Sheets and towels are stained. Floor and furniture are filthy. Bathrooms are... More

I've stayed two nights in a dorm in this hostel in June 2011 and payed 16€ per night. I would recommend the hostel but I also noticed a few negative things. First, I'll start with the positive: The sanitary installations were clean and seemed to be cleaned every day. The hostel had free WiFi (bad signal in the dorms, but... More

If you are looking for something different and something with character then the Old Jaffa hostel is for you. Our room was so cute with a little balcony overlooking the market, lots of pictures, wooden shutters, and a random ladder??? loved it! Yes, it isnt the cleanest, but for the price and for the feel it is worth it. The... More

Old Jaffa Hostel is well located in the Jaffa region in Tel Aviv and it is easy to walk around from here to almost anywhere in the city. The hostel works well, makes a personal impression and gives value for your money. The building is cozy and has a great rooftop balcony - meanwhile the breakfast serving of toasts with... More

After some truly appalling experiences in the hostels of Jerusalem walking into the Old Jaffa Hostel felt like entering paradise! Of course it will probably never win any major travel awards (although I did notice from press cuttings that it featured in the Independent's fifty best hostels guide) but this place definitely deserves praise. The private room I had was... More

There are some very enthusiastic reviews of this hostel in various travel books. I can only think that no-one from these publications has visited this hostel for many years. It is in a great location and the building is "authentic" but... It is dirty; the reception staff are not only rude, but incompetent; the communal women's showers are simply disgraceful... More

Plus points first - the hostel is in a lovely old bulding with lots of interesting features and objects; we found the staff, contrary to some of the comments made here, helpful and professional; the rooftop garden is really nice; the light breakfast is adequate and coffee was available until midday; and the location is very good, right in the... We stayed in a private double room "back to the womb". The hostel was very beautiful and uniquely decorated. It included a rooftop dining and socializing area with a kitchen. The hostel was in a very good location, near the beach, restaurants, and all the attractions in Jaffa. The only bad part of the hostel was the bed. Our double... More

I ended up in this hostel by a happy accident, when I was on a derive walk along the coast and suddenly realized I have no place to sleep and the beach is not an option. Luckily, my outdated LP guide strongly recommended this place, and since I'd been to Jaffa before and really loved the area I decided to... More

I stayed in a dorm. The mattress is too thin and it's quite noisy due to the restaurants and bars outside. BUT, my biggest issue is with the staff. 1) Since the rooftop kitchen had no cups, I came down to the reception area's kitchen and asked for a cup. The older male staff member just started yelling at me.... More
