We stayed at Villa Araliya for our first and our last night of a 2 week trip around Sri Lanka. Lovely hotel, very friendly staff. The rooms were spotless with great air conditioning. Negombo is, rather unexpectedly, short on good quality, cozy, non-chain hotels and guesthouses, and Villa Araliya is a nice exception.
