Arrived in Chiang Rai yesterday, checked into the Wiang Inn, checked out the next day. Very old and shabby. The reception is nice but rooms are dated and definatley not worth the money (rubbish breakfast too!!) We moved to the Red Rose this morning, and love it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is defenitely one of the wackiest places to stay in Chiang Rai. Rooms look like youre in the middle of disneyland. We stayed at the "starwars room". This hotel is just one of a kind! We had been reading about it online (after seeing the recommondation in Lonely Planet) - but it just something you have to see to believe. This is by far the funkiest hotel I have ever stayed in. Each room has a theme - such as Star Wars, Thai Boxing, Aladdin, Tarzan, Mickey Mouse, Spa, Cars, etc. Rooms start at 350 baht/night with many interesting rooms at 500 baht/night. The most expensive room was 3,800 baht/night, complete with a 2-story room and spa inside your room.... More
