I pickd this hotel randomly out of the lonely planet guide after flying into Chiang Rai with the intent of seeing the town for one day before heading to Chiang Mai. A taxi deposited me onto the grounds of the Golden Triangle Inn. I hadn't read too much about it so didn't know really what to expect, other than it... More

We didn't sleep at the hotel, but we booked a tour from Chiang Rai to Luang Prabang in Laos by slow boat with their travel agency. The trip in itself was ok, but we were very upset when we crossed the border and where asked to give 1300 bath for the visa (40 USD), instead of the usual 31USD. The... More

For 500THB, the equivalent of £5 each for the night I thought the Golden Triangle Inn was good value. Decent sized rooms, clean, mosquito screens, you can't ask for much more at that price! We found the management quite chirpy, contrary to previous reviews, and the setting is nice, nestled amongst the tropical trees. Also the location is exactly where... More

The room was quite cheap (500BHT) and is very well located, really close to the city centre - 5 min walk to the night market. The owner is lovely and will try to help as much as he can. However, the rooms are filthy, the sheets are grey/brown from being old, there are dead mosquito stains on the walls and... More

The Rydges chain in Australia is known for buying up hotels in good locations but a bit long in the tooth, charging competitive rates, but milking the value of the hotel by minimizing repair and improvement, driving into the ground. Golden Triangle Inn appears to be using the same strategy to make money. The room is adequate in size and... More

I found the management here indifferent, the rooms over two levels were quite spread out, with a garden of sorts, but it was when my neighbours arrived in the room next door, that I realised how noisy it was. Luckily they had an early night, so bring earplugs. For the price and location, with a light breakfast included, it was... More

We stayed at the Golden Triangle Inn for 2 nights and enjoyed our stay. The rooms have AC and are clean. The beds are reasonable and the bathrooms have western style showers. In addition, it is walking distance to the night market and most of the Chiang Rai sights. Rates include breakfast and they have a travel agency that can... More

Though this place is indeed a little rundown, it is a reasonable place given price and location. We only spend 700B per night, which isn't a lot. In fact the rooms are clean, roomy and functional, the bed is alright, and the A/C functions. The bathroom was shabby but otherwise OK and clean. I have seen worse places for a... More

If possible: do not go to this hotel! Despite what the Lonely Planet suggests, it is not at all "like home" (unless if you live in a very sad place..). It is very run down, old and noisy. The room is outdated and dirty (bed sheets, walls, bathroom, everything). Ofcourse, 800B is not a lot of money, but in Chiang... More

We liked this hotel overall. The rooms were simply decorated and there was a pleasant garden. Just a short walk from the hotel to the night market. We also ate at the hotel restaurant one night and found the cooking was excellent. Price of the room was reasonable. One negative was that our bathroom needed to be repaired. I would... More
