First of, my review might be a little bias because I thought this place was a bed and breakfast and not a hostel. Regardless, this place was absolutley filthy and I would not recommend it to anyone! We arrived late and like most reviewers indicated we had to wait 30 minutes to check in. The owner took two calls and... More

The "Zen dinner" was served 90 minutes late, and part of it was uncooked because they ran out of candles. The breakfast was also served more than an hour late without notice; that's enough time for a leisurely walk to a convenience store and back. You can find more reliable and more responsible places to sleep in Nikko for 4000... More

I stayed at the lodge for two nights with my girlfriend in late January when Nikko was very cold and snowy. The lodge offered free pickup and drop off to the train station in town and even gave us a ride to a couple of the sights around town. The staff were all very accommodating and friendly and spoke pretty... More

After arriving at the station it takes time finding the way, up-hill with a bag-pack isn't ideal. 2nd timd though I called from the station and one of the staff came to pick me up. Got a room for myself even though it was a dormitory. Staff was nice enough... Room was very cold at night. All in all, if... More

This lodge is just charming, full of warmth and character. It is about 15 mins walk from Nikko station, but the other Nikko lodge near the station will look after your baggage and there are free transfers a couple of times per day. Breakfast and dinner can be purchased at the lodge and this was just delicious. Try the Zen... More

I stayed here for 1 night with my husband, while we enjoyed the Autumn leaves of Nikko. Very friendly, english speaking staff. The rooms were adequate, not large but not tiny. The ensuite bathroom was very samll, but also adequate. The only problem we had were the beds were very hard, but I think this is a Japanese thing. We... More

My friends and I spent two nights here in one of the four bed dorms. The hostel itself is very charming: from the outside the building is quaint and looks very rustic, complete with what I guess you'd describe as a turret (sort of!), and arched windows. Inside, the living / dining area is cosy; there's a log fire and... More

All staff were very helpful, whilst only the owner English is perfect, the rest did try there best and knew basic words. The location is a bit away from the town but it makes a wonderful walk to it (seems happy to take you to the station), as the surrounding area is a thing of beauty. My only complaint is... More

We stayed here for one night at the start of September. The host Ken, was brilliant with suggestions of where to go and how to get there. He gave us a lift into town in the morning. The hostel itself isn't anything fancy, but it was clean and comfortable and they have private rooms. This definately wasn't a 'hotel', but... More

I stayed here a couple of years ago for two nights. Its quite far from the sights of Nikko but is a great place to stay with and onsen close by and lots of space. The food here was great too, fantastic breakfasts and a I had a great dinner too. Nikko pretty much closes down at night so its... More
