Travel around Kyushu island, able to stay at dormy inn Kumamoto, very nice hotel, near kumamoto castle, easy rides to mount aso, very accessible. Value for money, the hotel is very clean, with complete basic amenities, room is quite small, Japanese breakfast is very good, the best part is the onsen which guest can relax after a long day walk.... We reserved two rooms online and enjoyed the early-bird package, so the price is more than reasonable. The hotel is located in the town centre, quite near to a prominent spot of the city, namely, Kumamoto Castle. Room is clean and tidy and comparatively spacious (the bed is a double-bed, not a semi-double). Facilities like vending machines, ice-making machines, carparks,... More

we stayed in the family room which had 2 large twin beds to one end and also had an area that had tattami mats for the kids to play. Fridge was very useful as was the drinking water in the room. Everything was clean and new in the room. The onsen on the top floor was also very relaxing. There... More

Stayed here 3 nights in Feb 2011. If you are arriving by train, you have to take the streetcar to the centre of town. If arriving by air, you can take an airport bus to the main bus station which is only a block from the hotel. The bus station is adjacent to an underground shopping mall, which has a... More

We only stayed one night in this hotel on our round tour in Kyushu. We booked two-interconnected rooms at very affordable early-bird price with breakfast. Comparing with the Dormy Inn in Fukuoka, the rooms, breakfast and onsen will be less attractive but considering the prices, which is almost half, it is then very worthwhile. There is only a hot spring... More

Hotel was clean and although close to bus station was quiet. Good base to see the city from. Easy to use the trams to get to and from the train station. Within walking distance to main attraction of castle. Did not eat in hotel as breakfast not included in our rate. Hotel was busy so did not use the onsen.... More

Comfortable, if small (Japanese sized) room. Fabulous onsen (included), rigorous shiatsu!(extra). Free washing machines (dryer charged) Free noodles at night - for the late working businessman, banquet breakfast (charged extra). Great location with a view to the castle if you get lucky. Dormy are a good, slightly upmarket modern styled chain. Highly recommended. More

The only complaint I have is the distance of the hotel from JR Kumamoto. Other than that, everything else was perfect and I was pleasantly surprised when I found that the hotel had specially prepared a small pillow, slippers and towels for my toddler when I entered the room. (It was the only hotel that paid attention to this small... More

The Dormy Inn was excellent value for money and the rooftop onsen was sensational! We have stayed at another Dormy Inn so really looked forward to our stay in Kumamoto. The onsen was even better than the last Dormy Inn and I really loved it! The room was clean, well laid out and had everything you needed. If you can... More
