This was booked through Air Asia - touted as a 4 star hotel with sea access. I would advise against booking this hotel. This hotel is: 1. Front desk - manned by only one staff - who is not dressed in a smart uniform as is expected of a 5-star hotel (rating as per what is on the website) - person is dressed casually so the first impression you get does not spark confidence. This person speaks rudimentary English and is also not present most of the time. Upon check in you are told that there will be no breakfast as the restaurant is under renovation (you will however note that there is no renovation going on at all!), there is no wifi, and you are only given one key to the room. You are also told that if you need assistance with anything, to call a mobile number on an envelope that contains your room keycard. The room does not have a phone. There is no bell-boy - at least not when we checked in. 2. Old and severely in need of a refresh. The general feel you will get is that this property is about to close down. Rooms are large but furniture/toilet unit and all fittings in the rooms need to be changed as it is showing its age (our toilet unit was chipped and looked yellowed/dirty with age). Room smells musty and is in need of a deep clean. Fresh towels were provided every day of our stay but they were stained. Furniture on the balcony was dismal and stained with bat/lizard poop so the option of even going to the balcony is restricted. 3. The picture of the pool for Langkawi Lagoon on this page is actually inaccurate - pictured is the pool at Ombak Villa (a better hotel) which is the property next to this hotel. 3. The surroundings of this hotel is not maintained well - grass leading to the pool and around the area is unkempt. Doors leading in and out of the property are in disrepair. 4. Sea access is treacherous - this "lagoon" looks to be a mangrove swamp and is not ideal for swimming as the sea bed is filled with mangrove saplings and thick mud (observed at low tide). You are advised to tread with caution or walk a few hundred meters towards Ombak Villa and beyond for a better swimming experience. 5. Star rating of this hotel needs to be reviewed and retagged as a 2 star perhaps so people get an honest view of what they are booking and are able to manage their expectations. I do not recommend this hotel. The only upside is that it is close to the airport. A bit of a nuisance as it is not close to any amenities and given the restaurants on site are all closed, you will need to rely on e-hailing services or the hotel buggy to take you to the next property for food (we were not presented with information about the option of the buggy service to the next hotel for food when we checked in).

I really don't know where to begin. I booked this hotel because this was our first vacation post covid and also to celebrate a milestone wedding anniversary. The hotel is looks very dated. The reality do not match the pics. At check in, we were told that there is no wifi in the room, and that we would need to pay a deposit for a router. There is no restaurant at the hotel. if we needed breakfast we needed to place an order for the brekkie the night before (before 8 pm), and the food would be served to us in our room. We were given the option of going to the next hotel to use their restaurant if we wanted. As we entered our room it smelled very musty. The bathroom had a very bad smell (urine). There was a pair of used/dirty socks drying the the bathroom (possibly of the previous guest). The shower area had a part of the wall which had some stones/rocks on it. There were droppings of some creature nestled in the crevices between the stones/rocks. On day 2 in the morning, I found a bat flying around in the bathroom. I have concluded that the bad smell and the dropping could’ve been bats who frequent that area in numbers. The mirror meant for shaving had only the stand, no mirror. The rubbish bin in the bathroom was cracked at the bottom. On a couple of days, housekeeping didn’t leave any face towels (day 1) and bath mats (day 4) in the bathroom after they cleaned up. There were cobwebs in the bathroom & behind the curtains in the room. The rollout bed for the kids didn’t have a mattress that fit the size of the rollout bed. It was a smaller one and seemed like it was from a baby’s cot and was just made to fit in there. The room doesn’t have a phone to call the reception. The only way to communicate is through WhatsApp. There are no staff in sight for the most part. Every time we passed by the reception, there was no one at the counter. We saw some staff around the property over the last 2 days of our stay. The resort doesn’t have a spa as well. The structure seemed to be in a dilapidated condition and in high need of repairs and refurbishments. While it was visible that some rooms were getting renovated, I couldn’t fathom why we were given this dilapidated room. All in all, we paid for our room and for the use of a swimming pool. This is not a resort if you have no amenities, it’s as good as a BnB. I would pay the amount I did for a BnB. If I had known that this “resort” doesn’t offer any of these facilities, I wouldn’t have booked this place at all. This experience ruined a bit of our holiday.

Hotel is quite far from town but not too far from airport. I was staying at the stilts structure over the water so the experience is unique. Room is big with standalone pantry, a sitting area with windows, a balcony with table and chairs for a cuppa in the morning, a bathroom with separate shower and a tub. It was very comfortable with all the available space. The mobile signal is weak and there's no wifi in the room. Sunrise and sunset are something to look forward to. Walking out and back through the wooden platform was comforting with a villagey feel to it and a great an unobstruct view all around. Breakfast was to be serve to your room but you have to order it the day before. I did not order any though.

This is my occasional short stays. This hotel is nicely decorated and the room itself is quite comfortable for couples who choose to stay for a few days. It has shower and a bathtub, a sofa bed, king size bed, microwave and a private balcony. There are a few types of Water chalet to choose from. The good ones are at the end facing the sea. Don’t worry about having to walk back to your room because you’ll be mesmerized by the view. And if you are too lazy to walk, you can always ask for the buggy service anytime. Sadly though, this place looked seasoned. It needs maintenance and upkeep. The beach is muddy so Swimming here is not recommended. When low tide, you can see hopper fish and crabs all around. If you're lucky, you might even find sea cucumbers washed up to the beach. 😉

Unfortunately the hotel is not the same as in the pictures :/ The staff was kind and understanding, but the hotel is poor and smelly. If that would not be enough the "lagoon" was full of mud, literally no sea and no ocean. Just smelly mud. We were here one night only because the airport was close. But that's all.

We booked here for 15 days & left after 7. Room was fine in wooden building built on the beach. Beach looks lovely but swimming banned. Pool area very shabby and needs total refurbishment. We did not opt for Breakfast which is available at RM50 per person which is expensive in Malaysia. There is no shuttle between the hotel & Pantai cenang so taxi there and back costs RM37 a day to have a choice of good dining. They have offered to refund part of my money which I will see if happens.

Do not stay at this place, not worth your money. Very old building and far from everything. Aside from being old, it’s also dirty. The staff was friendly but the facility is not good. You can’t swim at the lagoon also cause it’s muddy and some water from the villas went directly to the water at the lagoon. Staff told me, swimming is not allowed due to mud but did not mentioned about the water coming out from the villas. Better stay at Arch Studio Cenang close to everything.

i must admit that their respond on our request during booking was so impressed until the day we arrived at resort. It is a bit frustrated when you are paying lots of money to enjoy the holiday & it ruined by having wrong choice to stay at the resort.. It started with the lobby area was not represent as the expensive hotel rate. It only equipped with normal fan.. then we went to the room, sadly to say that i couldn't believe that it is not well maintained..the resort maintenance is running down.. the next morning, we went for the breakfast & the food was late served, very few food varieties & it was so spicy so the next morning we opted not to have breakfast there..the pool was poorly maintained as again i did not believe that they do not care the cleanliness of changing room, it was so smelly with cat's poop & very dark with only lamp was function.. seriously i will not go there anymore

We’ve been deceived by the nice photos but in reality this hotel experience was the worst 1- Rooms was full of bugs, in beds, in bathroom and all over the furnitures 2- Rooms smell so bad and there is a Bats poop all over the balcony 3- The bathroom floor and walls are ripped off and was letting bugs in from outside the room 4- Reception was too messy and been directed to multiple desks to check-in This is not a 4 stars hotel at all, when I complained about the room they said that’s what they have and no other options, and they have no refund policy, luckily I payed only for the first night so I took my deposit and left to another hotel The only good thing about the hotel is the worker, he was so nice and tried to help but the mess needed much more than him to handle
