It's our favourite hotel across Malaysia. Priced reasonable & equiped with all facilities required. A bit far from old town but easily to get a cab/ grab. Room is clean & bed is comfortable. Good to have a short stay

Can't expect much from this hotel. Need more friendly faces of staffs. The interior is old, the toilet has a distinct old smell. Stained walls, carpets, etc but I guess if you are not fussy, you'll be fine. We asked for additional pillows, no responses from housekeeping. Calls unanswered. The management has to do something to 'rejuvenate' this place, if not please change it's name. It's for sure has no 'seri' (glow), and it definitely does not represent Malaysia.

Frankly I was getting disappointed with the quality of rooms offered by the Hotel Seri Malaysia chain. It has deteriorated from average to worst. However, recently I was pleasently surprised that the Hotel Seri Malaysia underwent positive changes not only from the quality of rooms to the quality of food.
The breakfast menu is really excellent with its warm delicious tasty nasi lemak spiced with well concocted sambal and the slices of fresh cucumber which are very crispy and generous in amount. The half boiled eggs that accompany the nasi lemak is simply filling. The fruit slices are excellent
The rooms have new carpets, new bed spreads.
Perhaps the only negative thing I could find is that there are still ash trays and the residual smoke still lingering. Hope that the Hotel have dedicated rooms for smokers!
Congratulations Hotel Seri Malaysia! I promise I will visit you often in the future!

Always stay at this small hotel when I visit Ipoh. Staff are welcoming and helpful. Family friendly hotel and decent food at restaurant. Good buffet breakfast provided.

Nice to watch the little cats running about in the gardens too.

Decided to stay at the Seri, Ipoh having seen a recommendation in the Eyewitness Travel Guide. It was a former civil service resource to accomodate travelling staff, but looks as if it hasn't received a makeover to bring it up to hotel standard. Hotel is a bit of beaten track, not within walking distance of center or bus station. Rooms & bathrooms tired, breakfast nothing special. Overall it's somewhere between a 2 and 3 star.

Although the price of less than rm200 is quiet reasonable for a family room (can fit up to 4 adults), the hotel does need some upgrading to maintain its facility. The room had old carpeting and bedding that actually emits a foul smell even upon entering and the bathroom is very old and outdated with stains. The breakfast area and serve a variety of basic choices. Overall our short stay at the hotel is of average quality and i would recommend the hotel to make the room more comfortable and cleaner by upgrading some of the facilities.

Stayed in a family room....quite spacious with 2 queen/king size beds. There's no lift services to take you up to and down from the upper floor as we got a room on the 3rd. floor. Deco of the room is a bit old and a bit smelly. Small fridge - not in working condition. Location is not within a walking distance to any mall or eating places so you need a car to move around the area. Breakfast buffet spread is ok.

Bought 2 nights stay at Matta Fair. The building is quite old. Easy access to parking. No lift service. Managed to get connecting room. The room with queen bed is spacious, can fit in 1 extra bed. The bath room is small and clean, only basic toiletries ie shower cap, soap and shampoo are available. the shower cube is small with old and quite dirty curtain (room 121). The management should replace the curtain. No hairdryer and mini bar. only kettle and tea/coffee / sugar /mineral water provided. Shared Iron is located at 2nd floor but the iron place is dark even in day time . need to change the type of lighting here. The staff are friendly and helpful. The Malaysian menu buffet breakfast is good with cereal for children. The children and adult pool are ok.The advantage of this hotel is the location near town. Every 4th sunday is a car free morning at the main road. we enjoyed cycling and various activities here. wifi available
