After trying out the other hotel down the street, I decided to try out this cheaper but more well established hotel, based on reviews I have read. What a disaster! The room were run down and the corridors has a funny smell to them. Bed was sunk in and had a sore back the next morning. Breakfast was barely passable,... More

I agree that the rooms need an update but we were out and about and just needed a comfortable place to sleep. The public areas of this hotel are well-maintained. We enjoyed the band playing one night and the Karaoke place across the street was so packed we couldn't get near it. We were so glad we found the yum-cha... More

Located in the heart of ipoh,it's within waking distance to almost everywhere in city's vicinity, but no grocery store, just small convenience store, taxi is the means to get around (no meter),ipoh is laid back & most shops vlose around 7-8 pm Room is kind of old but well taken care of,all in all,it's a place worth the price More

It costs me abt rm200 for superior room (added 1 mattress + bfast for 3 persons). Not recommended because the hotel is worst than any 3 stars hotels I had stayed in KL before. If i were to rate Syuen hotel & heritage hotel, Ipoh at 80%, then this hotel is only worst 50%. More

This is at best a fair ho. Given the limited choices in Ipoh, the best thing you can do is to lower your expectations. First, check in is pretty slow. I arrived at 10 sth am. No room is ready yet. Fair enough, as I was well ahead of the check-in time. When I returned at 7 pm, I was... More

I had been staying in that hotel twice in one month, both in superior double room, RM143 per night. Frankly speaking, the hotel was up to the standard- polite and English literated concierge, clean environment, nicely decorated lobby. The room, amenity wise- hot water for shower, bath tub, towers, bed, 16" satellite tv, coffee making, punctual room service, all were... More

I always stay here with my family when in Ipoh and this hotel never dissapoint me..so far!!! I also have stayed at Syuen & Heritage before but I prefer Excelsior due to these reasons: 1. Good Rate - Triple Room @ RM188 (1 King Size with 1 Single Bed with breakfast for 3) 2. Big room size - 2 tv... More

I travelled with two colleagues and stayed for one night in the hotel. As we stayed in a family room just a week before in a hotel down south, at a cheaper price and way better facilities, we were very much disappointed with Hotel Excelsior. The hotel probably reached its peak 20 years ago. The decor is tired, the room... More

Nothing to shout about. Was inform by reception staff that the room has been renovated and decided to check in here as the other hotel which we wanted to stay were fully booked. Staff were pleasant. Room was clean. Air-cond is centralised and thermostate not functioning well. Basic amenities like showel gels, shampoo, soaps and shower caps. Bathroom is clean... More
