Budget Hotel Only Good for 1 Night Stay. Booked 2 Adjoining Room. Air Con, Ceiling Fan, Hot Shower and Water Pressure is Working Fine. Hot Water is at the Lobby. Unbearable Loud Music from Pub Below. There's Only 1 Blanket Per Room which is Rather Small. No Toiletries, Electric Kettle and Hair Dryer. Bathroom Choked during Shower. Friendly Reception and Location is 650M to 3D Trick Museum, Wonderfood Museum and Chowrasta Walk. CAT Free Bus Does Not Ply the Road in Front of Hotel. We booked 2 nights, one of the worst hotels in Georgetown, the mattress cover was so dirty that we removed it, feeling sick. Dirty bathroom, water flowing from a pipe onto the floor, bath, phew. What more can I say than not to go to this hotel!! The price is never worth what you get as a room!!

Hong Ping is a solid budget hotel with a small elevator, water fountain, decent beds and friendly staff. I felt comfy and safe there. Owner is a older lady who knows hospitality. Plenty of great food choices within 200 metres. Location is superb for transport.

Location is on Chulia street, near love lane where the evening market is. And the RapidPenang bus stop is there. If you want no-frills room where all the basics are functional and clean, this is it for the price. The agoda rooms might be more prone to mosque call to prayer announcements in early morning (05:00). I was on 2nd floor 220, perhaps higher room or room on a different side would have been quieter to the morning prayer call. There is extra 12RM taxes not included in the agoda price because of the hotel star rating. Well... I gave them the benefit of the doubt, as the hotel is still a decent value for the money.

I lived in Georgetown Pulau Pinang in 2011 on Love Lane. I was here from February until April 2011. I came back on September 29, 2022 on a visa run from Thailand and was recommended Hotel Hong Ping, off Chulia and Lorong Seck Chuan, by The Brew bar. I stayed for 4 days in Room 314. Average room, nothing special. It didn't take me long before I was calling the front desk staff Auntie and Uncle. I left The Kingdom of Siam for good and went back to Pinang on November 16, 2022. I decided to check-in to Hong Ping but Room 314 was NOT available. This was a good thing. Auntie gave me Room 414 and I am in Heaven. Already 7 days. The room has a larger bathroom and better energy or Feng Shui. These are good people... an older crowd... and very warm and friendly. I recommend this hotel. But don't be too "hi-so" or stuck up... be friendly and say hello and they will treat you well.

The location is perfect and the staff are really nice and helpful. We stayed as part of a group tour and Hong ping was definitely the worst hotel on our itinerary by far. The room that I was put in initially stank horribly of cigarettes. I don’t usually cause a fuss as I have worked in resorts and still work in hospitality, but I honestly couldn’t stand it. I asked if I could change rooms. The second room I was placed in was still in the same corridor but so different. No stink, a modern tv (which didn’t seem to work) and a much cleaner bathroom. If you’re not happy with your room just ask - you might be in the gross one I was put in. The wifi in our corridor didn’t work. I heard that it works in other parts of the hotel. The tiny elevator is kind of creepy and very claustrophobic. The mosque will wake you up at five am and then at six am but I actually thought it was quite beautiful and interesting. The worst part though was getting an upset stomach from the bottled water. I know it was from that because the food is been eating was of high quality. I didn’t realise the bottles weren’t sealed which is sort of my own fault. However, I wasted half a day and a bunch of medication because of it and I think that’s incredibly unfair and poor practice on the hotels behalf. Don’t let people smoke in your hotel in future and please provide proper bottled water. It would be much more moral and right to have no bottled water than this questionable stuff.

5 mins drive to Chew Jetty and Komtar. Evening food stalls downstairs. Walking distance to pubs, bicycle rental and convenient store. The location is very good and reasonable price. Strongly recommend to backpackers / budgeted trip travellers. Note: please bring your own hair dryer and water bottles. There is a water station at lobby which you can refill your water bottle. Car park provided.

Contrary to the previous review, we found our room and bathroom (No. 314) to be super clean with comfortable bed/pillow. Location is superb and the staff is helpful and friendly. There is a new city tax which made the cost of our room $23, an excellent value. Only thing missing was a fridge. Would definitely stay again. Our room had a good view, including the small mosque and we were not bothered by the calls to prayer. WiFi is a bit spotty.

Well the only good thing is the location. Its not far to walk to some really great places. The bed was uncomfortable. Pillows hard. Next to a mosque and you get woken up at 6. Bathroom was dirty and the free water in the room comes in an unsealed bottle so I didn't drink it as I had no idea if they were just filling it with tap water. Wifi is non existent.
