Highly recommended for friendly staff, wonderful very traditional food and a central location. Could not have been better. No bargain but you do get what you pay for and in this case a good deal more. The kindness and thoughtful attitude of the husband and wife owners was really quite breathtaking.

this is NOT an old ryokan, it was built in the 80s, the 1980s and it shows. the bathrooms, important in the ryokan experience, have a nice wooden tub, but otherwise are normal japanese bathrooms. of course i am all for having a real toilet, but i would also have liked the all wood and stone bathroom, cedar clad. not...
