I had a one night stay as it was just meant to be a transit stay between Kanazawa and leaving for Kansai Airport the next day. Quite a clean place but small, though sufficient for a solo traveler like myself. Cleanliness is quite alright except that there are some yellow stains on the window shades. The heater was out of... stayed for 2 nights with my hubby, dad & mum , rooms located on 2/f & 4/f. quiet nights for good sleep. Excellent location as just 10 mins walk from Kyoto station. Basically the communication with the hosts were fine as they can speak English. Lift is available which is good as we got 2 x 32" lugguages. as mentioned... More

Stayed for 1 night during peak season. Good location and relatively good price. I stayed on the 5th storey, which means I have to walk up one storey from where the lift stops. The room is very small as a twin room, the hygiene is good. The mattress is a pleasent surprise as a ryokan - I am able to... More

spent 3 days. was a very good, inexpensive multistoried 'ryokan' near kyoto station. its not 'traditional' in that its multistoried. the owner is very helpful, jolly and active. he offered a free day bus pass, a free map of kyoto, of the vicinity as well, and general traveller tips to whats around and how to go about. will return and... This hotel was really a bad surprise for us. First, it is not a real Ryokan (beside having to leave the shoes at the entrance) and it is very very dirty. Hairs of other people and dust everywhere on the floor and sheets. They switch off AC when you leave, and in summer it is really very hot! I even... More

I spent several days in Kyoto and had decided to stay at Station Ryokan Seiki. The owner was very helpful and friendly, always willing to provide with useful information. This hotel is conveniently located, very close to the Kyoto station and two big shopping malls.

The location of this hotel is quite good, just 5 minute walk south of the Kyoto station. The rooms are traditional style japanese rooms, with tatami on the floor and futon beds. Each room is equipped with air conditioning, TV, phone, refrigerator and tea/coffee maker. The en suite bathroom is very small. The cleaning could be better but in spite... More

When my wife and I think about this "Roykan", we both would pick up three key adjectives, 'FILTHY', 'UNCOMFY' and 'RIP-OFF'. If you compare this place with other business hotels in Kyoto, you will never fail to find this is the horrendous one in Kyoto in ways of both price and service. To sum up, I would never recommend this... More

If you are expecting hotel comforts, then I wouldn't recommend this place (if you are after that in Kyoto in this location you will need to pay almost double the price!). But if you are after a brilliant location, with very lovely hosts then this is the place for you. Since its likely you will be out most of the... More

Stayed over here for 2 nights because the hotels in Kyoto are all full due to some sort of holiday/festival. I will not stay at this hostel again because of its price (US$120). The good things about this place are: 1) it is very close (about 5 minutes walk) to Kyoto Station and Kujo subway station ( 烏丸線 - 九条駅)... More
