For the price you pay for rooms here, this is one of the nicer hotels you can get in Kyoto (and also vs. Tokyo!). The rooms are positively huge compared to what you get elsewhere, the beds are comfortable, I had a sofa and seating area, and there is a good-sized desk where you can connect for free via LAN.... I stayed in this hotel for four nights during my stay in Kyoto. In this hotel you can find the good standard of room quality and service. Positive - Very good location to explore Kyoto, just five minutes from subway station (Marutamachi station, 2nd exit, two minutes from bus station, next to Imperial Palace Park - Very friendly and helpful... We stayed here for 2 nights to explore Kyoto. The hotel was in a nice location, right in front of a massive park, and a 2 minute walk to the subway. The rooms were a good size, and the staff were lovely. More

The rooms are large for Japanese standards. The hotel is kind of old looking but clean and comfortable. Free internet is a plus. The staff are so nice and helpful. Easy and pleasant walk to the nearest bus stop. Right across from the hotel is the Imperial palace. You need a special permission in advance to visit the palace. Kyoto... More

Palace Side Hotel is very basic, but okay, eventhough the hotel needs an updating (new carpets, painting etc.) The rooms are simple and clean, but you will find what you need incl. good beds, possibility of making tea and very claustrofofic small bath rooms. The staff is very forthcoming and helpful. You can rent good bicycles at the hotel (bicycling... More

We chose this hotel as it was close to the Imperial Palace and we felt it was a good option from which to base ourselves. The rooms are of a reasonable size, with quite nice views of the Imperial Palace Park. The breakfast is a good buffet but quite expensive at ¥2,400! No wifi - a common complaint in Japan.... More

standard small room and bathroom combo. quiet area. not within walking distance of well-known sights but all within easy reach because of subway and bus stops. right opposite the imperial palace which does not offer much, but it is certainly a nice place to walk/run. you will probably get to meet/talk to people who actually live in kyoto instead of... This place is very Westernized, full of Americans and Europeans, and the (decent and plentiful) food was, too. We'd been staying in Japanese ryokans before this and sort of missed that style or else we wouldn't have noticed the difference. The location is central to both subway and buses, and you can walk to Nijo Castle in about 20 minutes. More

We stayed 2 weeks at this hotel on the recommendations of fellow travellers on trip advisor. It is everything others say, very friendly staff, very clean hotel. Rooms are small but more than adequate for the price, which I think is very reasonable. Beds are a bit hard but still slept very well. they had 2 english TV channels, BBC... More

Autumn is a special time in Japan, the radiation scare up North in Fukushima -we are happy to have gone through with our trip to Kyoto, the Palace Side Hotel was still fully booked just happy to have a confirmed bed for 9nights . For stays over 6 nights-the hotel gave a special discounted rate of Y8200 a nite, with... More
