it is a good change from the traditional ryokan we stayed on our other night in the city. The boutique hotel is modern and chic. I wont call it luxurious, but our room is huge and has an amazing jacuzzi. Full of modern amenities. Hotel staff are also helpful and provided restaurant recommendations as well as assisting in making reservations.... More

A small modern hotel centrally located in Kyoto with easy access to the bus system which is probably the best way of getting around. You get on the at the rear of a bus and exit at the front by the driver. If you intend travelling a lot on the buses it is worth purchasing (from the driver) a pass... More

Very modern, super clean and large bedrooms. Located very near Kyoto Imperial Palace gardens and walkable to Nijo Castle (20 mins). Staff so keen to please. Small restaurant tries so hard and delivers good food and wine. Within a few minutes walk are some well established bakeries in classical French style where you can breakfast. Oooommm! More

We stayed at the Screen for 4 nights. We were booked into a large room but this room was totally designed in black color, same as in the hallways. Refused to stay in this room as was too depressing (one small window)! We got another room the day after facing the front street and temple, which was nice. In general... More

We stayed in this hotel last summer on our trip to Kyoto. The hotel is well located, you can pretty much walk to the old district and a lot of sites are nearby with a good hike. But what was cool about the hotel is that each room is separately designed by different people, so it gives them a unique... More

The Screen is lovely and very modern. All rooms are created by a different designer. We had room 403 which was very cool with sheer curtains in each section of the room giving it a very groovy feel. Beautiful big bath tub, top aromatherapy products, a 10 button bum wash machine on the loo, beautiful linen on a gigantic bed... More

Modern and trendy is probably what most would use to describe this 13-room hotel just north of downtown Kyoto. 13 Rooms, 13 designers - that's their theme. We took 3 of the rooms for our 5-day stay in Kyoto. The location was great for what we wanted - family holiday with a small kid, lots of quiet, cute streets to... More

We had a semi-suite in this hotel and it was really great. The hotel shows a lot of good taste - Bedroom, living room and bathroom with jacuzzi was just offering everything we needed. The huge TV and Iphone stands just show how modernly equipped the hotel was. It is only a bit remote from the center. Best connection is... More

This hotel is interesting in that each room is designed by a different designer. So, this review, to be fair is only for our one room, which I did not particularly like. We were spoiled by another hotel in the area too, so there was a striking difference with this hotel and expectations were set due to similar price and... More
