We booked the hotel 'The Cube' after good reviews on trip advisor, couldn't find the hotel on agoda or hotels.com, so we typed in 'the cube kuala lumpur'. And it came up with: http://cubehotel.com/, which is a front for the stay orange.com (which is never the 9RM it is advertised at, we paid 76RM) . This place is awful and they need to learn that they can't just scam people from money, without offering the services they advertise. So please do not stay here. We asked for our money back/ discount, and they offered us a complimentry stay after a lot of talking. The receptionist just doesn't care, and everything everyone has said is true. Please don't stay here, it should be reported to local police for it's shoddy scams. : ((

This hotel was recommended in a reliable guide and the website looked good so we booked (and paid) well in advance. We only needed a 2 night stay at the end of our holiday in Singapore, Penang and Malacca. The first thing which set alarm bells ringing were the young asian girls sitting on stools outside of the entrance holding "massage menus". The massage reception was in the lobby next to the main reception with a number of small massage booths located behind. We saw a number of men checking into these booths with the girls - please draw your own conclusions. Our rooms located on the 3rd floor were dreadful - please read any of the other reviews for more details. However, because it was difficult to even get into our double room along with my wife and our luggage (the bed took up the rest of the room), I took a look at the fire escape leading from the 3rd floor. There was that much junk stored on the 2nd and 3rd floor fire escape lobbys and along the stairs, that you would not have been able to escape via this route. We realised that the final 2 nights at StayOrange would spoil what had been, until then, a great holiday so we walked a few hundred metres to another hotel (The 5th Element Hotel) and booked in there. We were delighted and relieved that we did. We didn't ask for our money back or argue with the receptionist - we were just so relieved to be out of a dreadful hotel.

I booked and paid for 4 nights mistakenly believing I had booked Cube Hotel where I had stayed previously and which was good. The saga began when I arrived about 7:00 pm, was given a key to my room to find that it had not been cleaned. I was moved to another room which seemed OK and I chose to ignore that there was only cold water in the shower. However there was no seat on the toilet. I reported both and the desk staff seemed quite unsuprised. They offered me another room which seemed OK until I realised that the constant sound of rushing water was not rain. The staff on the desk explained there was a broken pipe at the side of the building They offered me yet another room but that one smelt very bad and also had the sound of running water, I had little choice but to stay in the running water room number one. It was relatively clean and had wifi so I was able to book another hotel. Similar price but heaps, heaps better. I'm the sort of person who takes hotel reviews lightly but I totally agree with any review who says this is terrible. KL can and does do much better than this.

We accidently booked into this filthy dump of a hotel with the rudest unfriendly staff I have ever had the misfortune to meet. We thought we had booked into a hotel called the Cube Hotel in Bukit Bintang but were scammed by this hotel, Stay-Orange.com Hotel pretending to be the Cube Hotel with there web site. When we asked the ignorant receptionist where the actual Cube Hotel and she denied any knowledge of the Cube Hotel or of our booking. The rooms are smaller than a prison cell with less amenities. The shower room had clearly not been cleaned for months, probaly since the hotel opened We saw doors to rooms obviously forced open, a filthy sofa in the so called reception area and rats on the window sill outside. The apparent wi-fi is form the McDonalds next door. Please do yourselves a favour and do not book into this dump !!! PS the real Cube Hotel is a nice clean hotel with friendly helpful staff.

Hi all, everything happend at the 28.12.10 as we arrived in KL. Everybody of our group was excited about the nice, clean and modern looking Hotel as it seems when you look at the homepage. BUT..... WRONG! First there was a really unfriendly, not English speaking receptionist who didn't care about guest when a hot soup is on his desk. After a while of waiting we recieved our room-keys, 2 keys with extra magnet-card and one without. Then we carried our luggage through the small stairway up in the third floor, which was full with used towels, pillows... First shock: We opend the door, or better the door of 2 rooms was already opend and we saw a mouldy room filled with one dirty, stinky old bed, electric-cabels hung out, holes in the wall, no window and just one meter space to walk inside. "I had the room-key without the card, but the card was needed to get all the electric work. So I went down to the receptionist but she doesn't want to give me a card because there was only one left and this is her own." Second shock: We looked into the bathroom or better hells-kitchen as we called it. The toilett was completly dirty/brown inside, the drain on the floor was totaly damaged and dirty, the basin looked as the toilett and when my girlfriend tried to use the water tap, the whole tap moved. The topic of all, mold everywhere. Ok, so there we are in KL fare away from home, tired and not in the mood to search for a new hotel with all the big luggage. So we decieded to leave our stuff there and have some lunch and maybe we finde a new place where we could stay. Final shock: We throw our bags on the bed and then I tried to look the door. As I put in the key and turned it, the lock felt out. Another door was not able to close and so just one room was able to lock but there have been break-in marks on the whole door. OK enought is enought, cause there was no way leaving our stuff in rooms like this. Last Stage: We called the receptionist, but she was not in the mood to get 3 floors up and so we went down with all our stuff. Then we tried to get to speak to a manager and after 40 min of discussion and waiting a big pimp with a big unfriendly smile came in. He told us that he is not able to give back our money, but he will transfer it back to our bank, we just have to fill out a few papers and thats it. Ok, we filled out the papers and he made copys of everything and then he left with the words that we will recieve the money in 2-3 days. WROOOONNNGGG! Till now we haven't recieved one cent, nobody is answer our e-mails, nothing happens. So stay away from the orange hell!!! Rob and Friends P.S.: Sorry for some grammatik misstakes, English is not my native language.

We where looking for a cheap hotel in KL, and the stayorange hotel came up in our search. But trust my words: DONT EVER STAY HERE The photos you see on the website are 100% Photoshopped and taken at a staged Studio as when you get there you will see that this is NOT the real deal. We checked in into our hotel, everything looked fine. Basic but fine. There is no elevator, so as my friend got a room on the third floor he had to drag his bags up the 5 Stairs to get to the third floor. Rooms are smaller than the Tunehotels Walls are thinner than a piece of paper - so u will get to know your roomneighbours very well. ( mine where 2 cigarette smoking porn watching men) and 1 an MTV lover till 4 AM TV is an LCD as advertised however it was NOT working The Shower is a weak one and the drain is next to the toilet so your bathroom will be completely flooded everytime you shower The Toilet had a flushing issue - I reported this to the frontdesk however they didnt fix it After 1 day there was a very bad smell in the room We asked the frondesk simple questions: Where are ATMs,Internetcafes .. they wherent able to answer them. ( They send us 10 min walking when 2 buildings away has an ATM) all in all just a horrible horrific stay and lead us to checkout after 1 day. Its KL - LOTS of other good hotels Dont stay here ! please dont !!

Ah yes, the stayOrange.com hotel near the sweet smelling China Town’s Petaling Street. After our breezy check-n we were whisked away to our room that judging by the in-house flyer seemed like it was gonna have that retro funky feel that is always fun. Well, we entered out double room very slowly because with our bags and the space available, it was the only way. Literally you could not see the floor after we got the door closed. Now, the room had a funk but not just any funk. I’m talkin about the smell of a room that at one time was used as a 6 foot swimming pool. But its not a swimming pool and the random rca in/out plugs dangling from the wall sealed the deal with their rusted corrosion. I suppose the mold stains on the wall and ceiling were suspect too. So, ok, we were staying in a damp flood victim of a room but we had a tv and free wifi. Or did we? Ok, so no hotels remote works to turn on the TV so I made attempts at the several buttons and very inconveniently placed plug but alas, no TV. The kind gentlemen who tried to help was not actually a worker at the hotel (notice the “kind”) but he gave it his best and asserted that it was broken. Ok, well he wifi? Hmmm, nada. Now the high tech wizards at the stayGARBAGE.com hotel explained that our software was not compatible to pick up their wifi which was newly created by a being greater than Bill Gates on a newly discovered Orange planet run by Mr. Bean. Odd, but we politely accepted this. Allrighty, so…no wifi, no TV, mold, stank, no floor space. Now, in other languages Garbage might mean something different, but I’m referring to the kind of garbage you might flush down the toilet after a healthy offering of Mexican heavy on the refried beans and guacamole. This hotel was similar to that. So, we decided not to stay in the excrement and peace out to another hotel an hour after we checked in. The woman that night had a plethora of excuses for why we could not just get our money back right away which included the boss being on vacation for a month and the dude the next day might have had refried beans on the brains so as it stands, we are at the mercy of the company awaiting an email back to get our money back. Oh….so what do I think of the stayGARBAGE.com Hotel? well...garbage.

I am in KL for a longer internship and my first hostel was really not great which is why I wanted to move to this hostel which looked great on the internet. well waste of my money and time!!: service is crap- the receptionist is unfriendly and not helpful- the manager is arrogant and not helpful either the pictures of the room are really old, my bathroom was filled with someone else's hair, the rooms are entirely too small, my tv didn't work and neither did my internet. there was no toilet paper in the bathroom and the airconditioning did entirely too much noise when I wanted to leave after about half an hour of being in the room they refused to pay me back the entire price, stating that i was the only one complaining! Honestly don't go there - there are plenty of nicer and way cheaper hostels like for example the new explorer's guesthouse or the travel hub guesthouse even westoverlodge hostel is better

First off - I am more than aware that this is a cheap hotel with cubicle rooms. I knew that when I booked it online, and was indifferent to that because I only wanted to sleep there and didn't require views or room service or any of the other things you expect from a standard hotel anywhere. In that sense, you get what you pay for. However, there is a point where a hotel crosses the line into extracting the urine territory when you realise that the towels don't get washed, the sheets don't get washed and changed, and your room has a young family of cockroaches marching happily to and fro about the floor. If I was in a small village in Cambodia, for example, I would not have an issue with things like cockroaches and the like when choosing somewhere to sleep - you learn to let things go and adapt to the reality of your surroundings and options. But when you are in a multi-cultural, modern, western like city like Kuala Lumpur, it is not unreasonble to expect simple things like basic cleaning. After complaining about the first room and the small family living there, I was switched to a room that had been chemically sprayed. Which would have been fine, but there is no ventilation whatsoever in the rooms, so the stench lingered powerfully and made it hard to breathe properly without feeling sick. The TV remote didn't work, so I had it replaced. The replacement didn't work either. The TV itself was odd. To turn down the volume, I had to mash at the menu button, because all of the other buttons would change the channels randomly, regardless of what they were supposed to do. The aircon did actually work, but very noisily, and would only stick to one temperature - really cold. As previously stated, the bedding and towels were not clean. The toilet had no seat. The sink fixtures were broken. The seals to the bathroom were half hanging off the door. The service is terrible. The staff are clearly without care and have no concept of hospitality. The cynical side of me thinks that this is because they are trained to simply take the cash and hand over the keys, but I suspect it is more a case of that combined with them just being some poor sod taking any job they can get and that they must have to endure the same complaints day in day out from the people who have the unfortunate displeasure of staying there. All in all, a terrible hotel. I have stayed in cheaper places in poorer countries and they have all been able to provide the basics any traveller would expect. I did not in anyway expect anything spectacular when I booked, far from it, but stayorange are completely misprepresenting themselves, and I get the impression from websites and from other travellers that no-one who has stayed there in recent times has anything nice at all to say about the place. I'll leave you with the mental picture of me searching for other hotels on the pay computers in the lobby while a large cockroach dashed back and forth across the key board.
