We stayed here for four nights at the beginning of our Texas trip. All in all it was a lovely hotel. Upon arrival we were greeted by the very friendly and helpful owner who gave us some great local tips (breakfast tacos at Veracruz are a must). The hotel is convenient for local buses which is handy for getting around... More

Our stay at the Heywood was amazing. From the moment we walked in through the door from the covered parking into the soaring front desk and lobby area, Kathy, the owner, greeted us and got us quickly checked in while making us feel as comfortable as if we'd been a guest in her own home. Once we were done at... More

Wondered if we had made a wrong turn when we entered a 'cash-for-gold'/palm reader/bars on the windows neighborhood, with the Heywood (conveniently ?) located next to a funeral home; but were reassured by the Heywoood's great staff that no side-arms needed...Went with the flow and had a great experience. Some neat taco spots just down the street for lunch, and... More

Awesome - friendly staff, beautiful toiletries, very clean and modern. Not so awesome - not close enough to the main drag (too far to walk comfortably), harder to get a cab due to location. Rooms were small for the $$$ compared to other hotels we stayed at in USA.

Our stay really could not have been better. This is a different kind of hotel experience, small and intimate, yet quiet and private. Amazing customer service, very knowledgeable and down to earth. We discovered several great restaurants based on the staff recommendations, including funky little places just around the corner. We loved the location, and the hotel's free bikes were... More

A beautifully designed little oasis (with strong doors and high walls) in the thriving East Austin neighborhood. Staff was super nice and after 10 minutes I felt like we knew each other for years. The terrace is a beautiful hangout spot and the rooms beautifully designed. But most interesting is the location - this really is a "neighborhood in transition"!... More

Stayed 2 nights in Room 5 (Queen Bee) Love, love, loved this place; in spite of an incident on our first night where another guest’s car, parked below the building, was vandalised – we were woken by the assailant honking the horn continuously for literally 10 minutes at around 3am. The police arrived and took care of the situation, which... More

Thanks for staying with us and for all the nice things you said about our property! Our staff works hard to give guests a perfect stay. We're still speechless regarding that incident. NOTHING like that has happened before, or since. I wanted to mention that nothing was taken from the vehicle, and there was no evidence of a break in.... More

We flew from San Francisco to meet friends from New York at the Heywood Hotel. Our Austin cabbie was a little confused when we gave him the address - the Heywood is on the east side of Austin in a transitional neighborhood. From the outside, it looks Iike a conservatively renovated row house; but inside it is all creative design... More

On my first visit to Austin, I found the Heywood via Trip Advisor. The glowing reviews are accurate. It's a small place on the east side of town. It's actually just about a mile to downtown, located in a residential neighborhood. I stayed upstairs in room 3. The room was a good size and very quiet, not facing the street.... More

We really enjoyed our stay at the Heywood Hotel. My husband and I were new-comers to Austin and Kathy & her staff had great dinner/bar suggestions for us. We stayed in Room #2, the Queen Deluxe, and it was much bigger than the pictures online suggest. Very comfortable bed, big bathroom, and I loved the instant hot water faucet for... More
