I have been backpacking in Brazil a lot stayed in many hostels, so I was really satisfied with what I got in Bamboo hostel. I read some comments of the place before and was doubtful to make my bookig there but taking into consideration the price and the location, decided to take a risk. Eventually, I was very happy with... More

Only reason to stay at this hostel is because of its reasonable price an its location. The staff is not helpful or friendly, AT ALL... They actually manage to make your stay in Rio difficult. We arrived before check out time, and needed to pay to have our luggage there for two hours before we would stay there for 4... More

Thank you for your honest review and critics, it is very important for us to make things better each day. The reception is opened from 8 AM until midnight and the security guy at night is there only for a security and does not give reception service, sorry to hear that you had inconvenience because of that. As for the... More

I stayed here in 2011 with some friends. We didn't get the room we booked online and was put in a room with others. Not friendly staff, I seriously was annoyed at the male staff who tried to hook up with my girlfriends all day and night. This stay could have gone a lot better and I was glad to... More

Rio was our first stop so in a way I'm glad I had my eyes opened as to what I could expect from some hostels! The hostel itself is ok at best, the dorm I had was pretty grim, could have done with a good clean but bearable! The shower areas were not too bad to be fair! The Internet... More

I stayed at Bamboo Rio back in June and had a great experience. If you're looking for a private room in either Copacabana or Ipanema, this had the best rate we could find! The location is great, close to the metro and bus stops, and a nice walk to either beach... but warning: most cab drivers don't know the street... More

This hostel was recommended by a friend and indeed the atmosphere was nice and friendly. The staff was helpful with tips about the city etc. There was also a free welcome caipirinha! The location was good - very close to Copacabana beach. In the first room in which i stayed, i could not sleep because the fan was right above... More

This place is a short walk to the beach and had easy access to all forms of transport. Was not far to the main attractions and the staff were more than happy to help in anyway possible. This was the best Hostel I stayed in in Brazil.

A nice overall place but not for everyone. I wouldn't recommend it if you don't want to party or hate noise. We had fun, but the guests tended to be quite young (average age was 19-23 I'd say) and there were people staying up drinking well past midnight and talking loud everynight. But if that's your thing, you should have... More
