Very near the Catete subway station. Good size room and good bed. Quiet. Desk staff fairly helpful--not all speak English. Best hotel breakfast we've experienced in Brazil, with a wide variety of fruit and baked items as well as the usual breakfast items. More

This is a decent but fairly standard 3 star Rio hotel. Because of the strength of the Brazilian real, hotel prices in Rio are fairly shocking when translated into sterling, euros or dollars, so bear this in mind- hotels in Rio are simply expensive these days, there's no way round it to be honest. So, why choose the Hotel Regina?... More

Centrally located for most of Rio's attractions. We had a busy schedule of cultural and touristic sights, and it was always easy to get back there on the metro fairly quickly. If you specifically want to be close to Copacabana or Ipanema beaches this hotel isn't for you. It's adequate rather than amazing, but clean, and easily good enough for... More

Have that image of friendly, smiling people willing to help, well scrap that out of your mind. Brazil is dangerous, expensive, pricey and the service is awful. If you are willing to go on an lifetime adventure it's the place for you (so is jail...) This hotel is at an awful neighbourhood, like most of Rio's. The prices are high... More

The Regina Hotel used to be one of the famous luxury Rio hotels, that declined in status, and then was renovated to bring it up to more modern standards. The results are satisfactory, but there were still a number of unchanged quirks left for the guest to figure out. Overhead lights and air conditioner turn on by inserting a keycard... More

Stayed here during Rio Carnival a good clean but basic hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful. Most of the reception staff speak english. Very good location 2 mins from metro which takes you anywhere, quick and easy! The breakfast was one of the best we sampled during our tour of South America. More

The hotel is conveniently close to the beach (about 5 mins walk), the domestic terminal (about 10 mins drive) and again 5 mins walk from a lot of shops and restaurants. The first impression is very good, the reception area is clean, spacious and staff will speak English. It does tend to get a bit chaotic, especially in the morning... More

A lot of the staff were rude, helping us as little as possible. Some of the staff were wonderful - there was one porter that helped us a lot, and the guy in the restaurant was really friendly. But others completely ignored us - we asked for help with our luggage, and the porter told us to go and ask... More

We stayed here for carnival 2011. Modern clean hotel, friendly staff, always willing to help. Breakfast was amazing!!!! Full buffet. Hotel is just across the road from buses into copacabana, leblon, ipanema and leme. Easy to get to Corcovado and sugar loaf mountain. Loads of restaurants within 2 mins walking and catete tube station just around the corner. Awesome power... More

The hotel is well located, centralized with a metro station and bus stops nearby, so its easy go to the turistic places, there's a lot of restaurants nearby . The rooms are quite comfortable and very clean. The employees are very polite and helpful. The breakfast is wonderful, varied and tasty. Worth the price paid More
