We stayed at Mango Tree over carnival period so the hostel was busy and full of fellow travellers to meet and hang out with. We had an ensuite bathroom which was a bonus but our room was located right next to the common/breakfast area so not the best in terms of noise. The Mango tree hostel was pretty good. We loved the location the most. It was only a 3min walk away from Ipanema beach. It was also close to many bars, restaurants and shops. Only stayed here for one night. Hostel is located in a great location in Ipanema. I got the impression it was a huge place, a bit impersonal, with tight security measures - havent seen that in any of the other hostels we stayed in over Brazil. Breakfast is OK.
