Stayed in a double in mid May. In my opinion Ipanema is the best area to stay in Rio, but also the most expensive, so this hostel is a way to stay in the area without spending all of your money! Not the best hostel in terms of room- very small, bathroom had a few issues (toilet smelling of sewerage,... More

I really enjoyed staying here. Stayed in the luxury double. Nice room, great service. They have an outdoor bar, a kitchen, hammocks and a mango tree. The front desk is very helpful and speak English. It's in a great location in Ipanema, near a subway stop and about 2 blocks from the beach. They offer a lot of tours and... More

We stayed at the Mango Tree for almost two weeks and enjoyed it so much! The rooms are very nice, especially the new ones with ensuite bathroom. The atmosphere is really laid back and the location is just great, a few minutes from gorgeous Ipanema beach. The staff were all very helpful at any time! Thanks for the lovely stay!... More

We stayed at the Mango Tree for 5 days and really enjoyed our stay. We stayed in one of the newly constructed private en-suite rooms which are really well fitted out and spotlessly clean. The staff are super helpful and the hostel offers a great range of trips and advise. Its a good hostel for meeting people but not noisy... More

If you're heading to Rio and you've bothered to research lodging prices, you probably already know that to stay someplace nice is Rio is going to cost you $$$$$ ... so if you're on a budget, a hostel is probably going to be the best solution. I chose the Mango Tree because it had a decent location near the beach... More

Over the last 8 months we have been constructing 6 new private rooms. The one the guests stayed in was the very first we were able to open, and indeed was offered to the guests prior to it being completely fitted out with all of the bathroom essentials such as a toilet paper holder and towel rail. The guests had... More

I stayed for 8 days and only on my third day did they clean the one female toilet for our floor, the bathrooms were beyond disgusting, nastiness on shower walls, trash was emptied every 2 days, it was just gross. The dorm rooms were fine with lockers under the bed, I stayed in a room 6 beds, however in order... More

Really enjoyed staying at this hostel. Great location right by the beach, just a short 5 minute walk away. Lots of shopping near by with stores and the markets. It was also super handy for catching the airport shuttle bus. Stayed in a private room but had to share the bathroom. Bathrooms could have been cleaner. But it is right... More

I booked this place online because in the pictures it looked nice. I was met a friend in Rio so the first night I stayed in a dorm and when she arrived we switched to a private room. The dorm was okay and as one would expect - clean and basic. The breakfast is good and perfect for lone travelers... More

I arrived around 7 in the morning and found a dead cockroach beneath a dirty towel in the bathroom. To be fair, the cleaning staff which does a great job doesn't get started until a little after 8 AM. Upon returning to that bathroom in the afternoon, I found it to be significantly cleaner. However the hostel as a whole... More

we stayed at Mango Tree for one night in November. It was on the same street as the airport bus, and only a couple of short blocks from the beach. The staff were very friendly and let us store our luggage there both before and after, gave us much information and booked trips on our behalf. We stayed in a... More
