Tasteful renovation and very comfortable. It's location in the village of Xi Zhou is an advantage - do not be put off by the distance from Dali city. The latter, with its hoards of tourists and kitschy shopping is best visited for the briefest time possible! Xi Zhou, on the other hand is a spectacularly peaceful and scenic village -... More

My husband and I visited the Linden Center in April of 2012. We have lived in China for 3 years, travelled extensively and can honestly say this is the best place we have visited in China-hands down. The peace and serenity of this simple rural village envelopes one as soon as he or she steps into Xi Zhou. We visited... More

I am writing this on my last day at The Linden Centre. The centre is a beautifully restored building and is also a heritage building so modernisation is restricted. That said the rooms are very comfortable and the bathrooms are of a high standard. You do hear some noise in the late evening but it did not stop me from... More

The Linden Centre is a beautifully restored 12 or 14 room hotel. There are some exquisite spaces have been created in the courtyards, and an exhausted traveller could sit and enjoy the ambience for hours without needing anything else to do except enjoy his/herself. However there was a lot that didn't work for me, including the dark rooms and the... More

We regret that you were not 100% happy with your stay at the Linden Centre. We want to point out to every future guest that the mission of the Centre goes far beyond providing a bed and comforts. We have become the number 1 hotel in China, rated by Trip Advisor, because we take every comment seriously, both the positive... More

My time at the Linden Center provided me with an experience which is unique and unforgettable in its own way. I have just spent a month at the Center, involved in a month long program at my school. I've constantly been told on how truly amazing the Linden Center is. But now that I've been there, I can only say... More

The Linden Centre in Dali was the highlight of our trip to China for our family in April 2012. We are a family of five, consisting of my husband and I, and our three children: ages 13 yrs, 12 yrs and 8 yrs. We planned to visit the significant cities in China including Beijing and Shanghai but were also seeking... More

The Linden Centre is a beautifully renovated/restored hotel with lots of charm and comfort. The rooms are well appointed and by far the nicest and most comfortable rooms we stayed out whilst traveling round numerous places in Yunnan. Its very serene and well considered with various communal areas/rooms, including nice dining room, great little bar, TV room, kids play room,... More

It's so nice to find a place where people have been working hard on keeping the historic place and making it comfortable. The antics, the decoration is wonderful, for the room, I loved the bathrooms but didn't like so much the curtains. For noise isolation, they have carpet which I feel made the air a little dusty and moldy, really... More

I have just returned from a 14 day photojourney led by photograher Douglas Beasley and hosted by the Linden Centre. No matter how much you stare in amazement at the Linden Centre on line, nothing can quite prepare you for the experience of actually being there. There is a truly beautiful atmosphere that pervades the Centre from the moment you... More

Just returned from a 12 day "Culinary Adventure," led by Janice Thomas of the Savory Spoon Cooking School, Ellison Bay, WI, one of the themed programs offered occasionally by the Linden Centre at Xizhou. What a treat it was, from intimate visits to local tofu, cheese, and noodle makers, wanderings in the markets, tastes of local street foods, and excellent... More
