A lively and comfortable paradise. The hosts and crew are helpful, professional, friendly and accommodating. It's my first time visiting and will definitely come back once more. To note, don't forget to wash your feet at the stairs and walk mindly on the longhouse!

During my stay there, I enjoyed a spacious balcony with a breathtaking ocean view in an old wooden hostel, truly charming. If you follow the rules of behavior, like walking softly on the wooden floor, washing your feet when entering the hostel, and maintaining silence from 11 PM onwards, you'll experience a genuine paradise for your senses and well-being. The owners are incredibly affectionate, friendly, and welcoming, making your stay truly unforgettable. Additionally, you can rent snorkeling equipment at a very affordable price and immerse yourself in the tranquil waters teeming with marvelous marine life just a few meters away. They also have a small bar where you can buy water and sodas, and if you book your breakfast in advance they will prepare for you a delicious meal. Tons of hammocks, palms and white sand😍♥️ This place is perfect for solo travelers, friends and couples who appreciate the small and simple joys of life.

We stayed in a fan room with a queen bed LIKED: Clean room, clean toilets, and staff very friendly and helpful. We made a super last-minute booking and arrived early the next day, but they were very accommodating. The laundry lines in front of the room are super helpful in drying things off quickly and there’s an abundance of laundry pegs (which is brilliant; not all places provide this). The beach in front of the property is white powdery sand. Being located at the end of this stretch of beach, it’s also free from a lot of people walking back and forth. COULD IMPROVE: No Wi-Fi :( also, the light in the room is a little dim. WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW: Bearing in mind this is a traditional longhouse construction, there are holes at the top of the walls for ventilation which means the rooms are far from soundproof. Sound travels from the communal areas + from the dorm so bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper.

We traveled to the island twice, because we fell in love so much that we decided to change the plan, come back and end our trip in Pulau Kapas staying at the Captain's Longhouse, because we felt at home. The accommodation is located on the beach and is a wooden cabin type, without great luxuries but well maintained and with a very cozy decoration. It has a large shared dormitory and private rooms. We first stayed in the dormitory and on our second stay, in a double room. Both options are clean and have a mosquito net on the bed and a fan. The bathroom is shared but it is new and VERY CLEAN. In fact, the cleanest we found in the country. In addition, they have a washing machine to wash clothes and a large space to hang them. The owner and the hotel staff are very nice people and very friendly, they make you feel at home. The only problem is the pain of having to say goodbye. They have a bar where they serve delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner. The bar, at night, is filled with lights and good music plays, so you can relax and have a good time barefoot while having a drink. Also, they have cold beer which is not easy to find in Malaysia. It has a volleyball net and balls, so if you feel like it you can play with local people and other guests. They also have equipment for snorkeling. We had a great time there! We loved living all those days without shoes! By the way, the accommodation has a basin at the entrance to clean the sand from your feet, since you must go barefoot. Custom that we love and makes it a quiet and clean place. If you want to feel at home but in paradise, this is your place ♥️

There are some good points, I will start with them. The staff are really lovely and friendly. The location is great, right on the beach and there is a large garden area with hammocks beneath the trees. And the not so good... the all wooden Longhouse moves about whenever someone walks across the floor. Every footstep sounds and feels like an elephant walking past. Also the walls between the dorm and the private rooms are very thin, you can hear everything! And the worst... Captains Longhouse is a Party Hostel, which is not apparent from reading any reviews. You learn this when the "music" begins at around 2100 and doesn't stop until about 0330. You can forget about getting any sleep especially as the party crowd will be in and out of the accommodation all night bouncing across that wooden floor. If you ask them to be quiet and show a normal amount of respect, forget it, they are already drunk on tequila and not understand you or make you feel that you are in the wrong. Captains Longhouse can't advertise itself as a Party Hostel because they don't have a permit to sell alcohol so... unsuspecting guests will continue to turn up. The Party vibe is spread by word of mouth... while I was there new people arrived daily who obviously were friends of those already there. I had a really horrible stay there witnessing drug use (serious crime in Malaysia punishable by death! - who wants to risk being among people like that!), sale of alcohol without a permit (punishable under Sharia Law in this part of Malaysia) and public acts of sexual intercourse in shared areas of the accommodation. Horrible place and extremely unpopular with neighbouring businesses who have to put up with a nightly onslaught of thumping music and shouting.

To lie down on the sand and watch the stars, to walk out front and swim in a pristine clean and clear, beautiful beach... this place truly takes my breath away! Everything was simple and had that good vibes, private with lots of shade for a breezy, nothing to do kinda short holiday. Solo travelers are most welcomed and greeted with warmth.

Stayed here for 4 nights but unfortunately arrived on a bank holiday so it wasn’t as quiet and peaceful as it normally is. We managed to get a dorm which they were selling for 50 ringgit per person. We managed to negotiate to 40 per person. Some people didn’t turn up for their booking so they gave us a double room for the same price. After a couple of days it got nice and quiet on the island but there was a big group of Spanish or South Americans who were just so loud all the time until 3am and then all day playing their music really loud on the beach. This is not the perhentians. It kind of ruined the tranquility for us, otherwise I think this island is really peaceful. The bathrooms are filthy here and the taps are often out of water. The accommodation is pretty overpriced for what you get. However the staff are really lovely people, although I don’t think they want to actually do any work, just play on the beach. There are rats so don’t leave any food lying around in the room. We really enjoyed staying on this island, it’s amazingly quiet and peaceful.

As commented by others, the longhouse is spacious and clean with comfortable mattress as people are required to wash their feet before going up. Try not to opt for the camping site, as it is very hot during the nighttime and quite unbearable. However, the bathroom is consistently out of water which is quite troublesome as people have to queue to wait for the bathrooms during peak hours. Bring a mosquito killer rather than a mosquito repellent I would suggest. The mosquitoes are just crazy.

The dorm were spacious and clean with comfortable mattress. Toilet and bathroom facility is well maintained. It is near to the starting point for trekking up to bukit berakit. Various restaurants were available on the island, however menu selection were rather limited. Night life activities is not as lively as Perhentian Island's Long Beach.

Friendly staff, nice concept (dorm, camp and private room, depends on how many of you), basic accommodations such as shared bathrooms (2 shared bathroom for everyone, which are clean). Do not wear your sandals when you're at the longhouse. Our room is a room for two, 1 standing fan, 1 small bulb light, queen size bed, two pillows and a mosquito net. For my room they charge MYR80 per night. Like us, we bring our own alcohol, junk foods, sweets atc, plus i bring the mosquito repellents and spray for my body and the room. The wooden longhouse is from 1984 where they implement the deco and concept based on Borneo's Longhouse (they manage to apply 35% of borneo concepts). They have 7 Couple Rooms in total, the dorms can fit 12 people (12 single bed) & their tent can fit up to 50 people which is first comes first. For alcohol they have only Carlsberg (MYR10 per can). No any other alcohol selections. Payments Method is only cash. The 1 liter mineral water is MYR4, ice tea/coffee is MYR5. The fried rice is MYR10 above. Captain Longhouse is located at the end side of Kapas Island and beside the entrance of the Kapas Turtle Valley. For any enquiry, kindly call Mr. Udin +60164443177).
