"What you pay is what you get" is a very correct saying when it comes to this place. True, the price is cheap but once you enter the place, you realise that what you got wasn't a 'deal' anymore. Maintenance is lacking, broken switches, disinterested staff, and 'old-smelling' rooms - try to look for other options if you can
Small hotel, near the train station. My friends had a family room in the front. Large, big window, overlooking a big tree and a busy street. My room was small, dirty and reeked of paint. The chaps on the floor, were very help, getting water, coffee eft. I liked the area around the hotel, lots of restaurants. Manager at hotel...

Helpful staff, good location. Basic room, twin not double bed, no bottled water or toilet roll without paying. Quoted prices out by 50%, suggesting either a massive economic shift or hotels are inflating prices when they make it into the guides or onto tripadvisor!
Unfortunately it seems that hotels/guesthouses in Mumbai are generally over-priced. Booking at least 10 days in advance is also recommended.
Hotel Oasis is by no means an oasis: the rooms need a paint job, bedsheets could be cleaner (I used my own) and there is no view whatsoever - unless you consider looking into the next apartment blocks kitchen a...

Recommended in the lonely planet, and cheap for Mumbai, we stayed here for 1 night - and wouldn't go back. It's at the dodgy end of the touristy quarter, the staff were ok but demanded tips. They'd covered up the windows so there was no natural light, no towels or toilet paper (until we asked). Twin beds instead of a...

Mumbai has become pretty expensive (for India), particularly in the southern part of the city. However, the Hotel Oasis is very reasonably priced. AND it is very conveniently located (an easy 5 minute walk from CST (i.e., the old "Victoria") train station). I spent two nights there three weeks ago, and I was very pleased. Yes (as noted by other...

We (a couple) were looking for a place to stay and came across Hotel Oasis. The manager behind the counter was not happy to see us but sent the bellboy to show us the rooms. The bellboy hurriedly showed us the small rooms with a few mosquitoes, but we figured that most rooms would be like this and we decided...

We had prebooked the hotel based on the location, some reviews, and the price - which was affordable on Mumbai standards. We arrived late by train, and were too tired to care too much about our lodgings, but the room smelled really bad - like pesticide/kerosene/Dettol/paint: we could not figure it out. We decided to ask for a new room...
