It is an overly decorated marine themed hotel with cheap stuff and the atmosphere in the premises is quite stale but if you are on a budget,it is an option for a short stay.Restaurant downstairs does not give the confidence of good food and appears dark in lighting.

The air-cond in the room not very cold, and at night downstair very noisy and made us can't sleep well. The corridor in hotel looked very horror and dark because some of the lights had broken but they didn't change it.Most of hotels have provide breakfast but they didn't.The cost stayed in this hotel not very cheap but we can't feel the value for money.

Lady in charge was damn rude and was not helpful. We paid the hotel in advance booking and paid balance before checking in and she insisted she wanted to see the voucher when the guy receptionist in the hotel got it. The place looked like a sleaszy kind of hotel, not appropriate for families. Although the decor is quite interesting, they made it look more like a brothel. PLEASE DON'T GO TO THE HOTEL....unless you are a prostitute !! iN THE INTERNET, IT LOOKED NICE BUT THE REALITY REALLY SUCKS !!

Well if you are antique fans we were like his hotel , the hotel image was build as castle above and below was build in wood panel like in the old day village , what I like his staircase up to the hotel , because once you step in the staircase you look like you go up to a ship image , every step count because with Art on both side and wood panel , either you were think how it was made of , or what the picture telling about . When you above the 1st floor you saw a wood nyonya baba door with very unique and other one above the 2nd floor. Well on that day me and my friends booking two type of VIPs room. Holland type and other is portugis type, both the room have a story to tell. Well write out is hard to speak the type of feeling. Well you have to stay to know the different. Well you know what, how much we pay for each room you could believe Rm 170.00 Nett after all the tax. Well is very cheap. I believe the price is worth value to meet the eye. Well my gals friends was so surprise , when we open the door, without voice out , she quick jumps up to the beds and took out his camera phone keep on take photo with antique beds . Wows. yes also like the food there , Especially tenderloin steak and black pepper chicken chop . Well , planning of check out the next door , we extend but me and my friends made change of room . well you also need to taste the portugis food at his restaurant . for my first time eating , i thought the food must be crazy hot . but after taste portugis baked fish , curry Deval , portugis mixed vegetable and other dishes . we clear up the whole plate . well stay to feel the different , you could get other place like this .

In contrast to what is written in the overal caption next to the hotel, Hotel Portugis is not a home to stay, especially not with children like we did. From the outside it looks like a brothel with flashy red lights. Part of the hotel and next to it is a loud nightclub and karaoke with private rooms for more intimate action. The area the hotel is located in is not inviting to go out during the evening. The hotel is run by Chinese instead of Portuguese. Also miles away from the historic centre. You can get cheaper and better in city centre.
