I stayed here just 2 weeks ago with my partner and 9 mth old baby and we were very impressed with what we received for our money. We were a little disappointed that our room was given away to another traveller as a flight delay caused us to be later than we expected to check in but we got it... More

So, after reading the most recent reviews we were a little skeptical. Admittedly, if you don't take the subway then the place can be difficult to find. My advice to that is to just take the subway. It's RMB3, so cheap as chips! However, once we got there we loved the place. All bad reviews need to realize that your... More

I stayed at this hostel over a year ago. Its okay apart from the loud music at 6 am every morning coming from the old people doing tai chi nearby. Also nobody spoke English, but luckily I had my Chinese girlfriend with me. Lately I've been receiving emails from them filled with propaganda about the Diaoyu/Senkaku islands: "Diaoyu Island is... I stayed here for two nights while in Shanghai. There were some really cool things about the hostel, as well as some stuff that could change. To start with the bad...the room. Although I just needed a place to crash after a long party session, I had to wear sandals in the room because there was a plumbing problem and... More

First of all the hostel is very difficult to find. We wondered around for ages trying to find it and no one speaks English so you can't get any directions. Had to phone the hostel and took ages to try and figure out which way to go because of the language barrier. If you do decide to stay (i wouldn't... More

we were there last month, we booked for three nights, only to find that, on the first floor, is really damp, they have a bar in the hostel, which means, it could be noisy if your room is near the bar, decoration is good, looks like a typical building in Shanghai old city

The hostel is cheap, clean with the staff being friendly and helpful. We stayed in a double room that was nice and clean with a really small bathroom. The only complaiont is that the bathroom got "flooded" after a shower, but that's a minor glitch. The hostel is located north of central Shanghai and it's only a 15 minute walk... More

The hostel is a five minute walk from Xin Zha Road tube station, which is only one stop from People's Square. It has a trendy youthful atmosphere, with a bar, pool table, outdoor seating and decking, and an overall good vibe. The staff were helpful and most of them spoke English, and the rooms were basic but clean, and had... More

Very conveniently located close to heart of Shanghai near People's Square and metro network (Xinzha Road Station on Shanghai Metro Line 2). Guests were largely local crowd. Has a very good pub attached to the hostel, a good place to hangout in the nights.

Not that I'm saying they are fakes, but I think maybe some of these "Novice" folks with glowing reviews are just really young and have no frame of reference about what a hostel experience can be. Or they are fakes. Hard to know. First things first: Normally, I don't do cabs a lot, but the subway closes pretty early in... More
