We have very high standards and this distinctive hotel exceeded them. Miraculous how in the middle of a very rustic and mountainous area this hotel could have been in Palm Beach, FL or Santa Barbara, CA for its seeming ease in delivering high quality menu, exquisite service, comfort, safety, and beauty. Concierge service - they delivered two children's bikes to... More

You drive up the palm tree lined road to The Grand Hacienda and travel back in time. Get a ride on the horse drawn carriage to explore the grounds. The rooms are above expectations while the food is not. You dine in a beautiful room while listening to the blender in the Bar. How loud can a blender be? Very... More

We adored the charming atmosphere of this authentic hotel and the friendly and helpfull manager and staff. We had a lovely suite (it was huge) and a spacious terrace. The place invites you to dream and brings you back to the sphere and elegance of colonial times. More

If you like the Grano de Oro hotel in San Jose – you will love this colonial style hotel. They are part of the same group of small distinctive hotels of Costa Rica of which we visited quite a few. All were perfect with the exception of Villa Calles which is a disgrace food and service wise to the group.... More

This hotel is located a bit out of town and is a lovely get-away. We were greeted with a welcome fruit drink. Gorgeous grounds and lake. Good food in the lovely restaurant. Relaxing environment...walked the grounds, played Scrabble in the common area. The white-water raft trip on the Pacuare River (class III and IV rapids) was a highlight of our... More

Near Turrialba in a beautiful countryside a large property on the shores of a lake and thousands of birds around. A beautiful colonial country house pleasantly decorated. No more than 16 rooms makes you feel at home. You can also enjoy a large swing pool in the premisses. With the hotel comes a pleasant restaurant offering good cuisine for reasonable... More

The ride to Turrialba was worth it. Casa Turire was like an oasis. This beautiful estate boasts a mountain view while overlooking a lake. The restaurant was first class, if a bit pricey. The food was delicious, much of veggies being grown onsite. This would be the perfect place for a destination wedding. After our trip through ecolodges, the comfort... More

This was a picturesque hotel: Palm-tree lined driveway with horse paddocks. Charming verandas with views down to the lake. Green gardens filled with flowers. Even a volcano in the distance! The staff were friendly and prompt. The dining room was gorgeous and the pool was refreshing. It was very quiet when we visited (not many guests) so that added to... More
