We found this hotel comfortable, if rustic and our room was spacious. The grounds were large and interesting but rather run down. The butterfly sanctuary had few butterflies. There is so much potential here but some tender loving care is needed. Breakfast was fine but supper left a lot to be desired. They tried but still served half-raw chicken (some... More

Stayed 2 nights at La Quinta. We found the rooms in the semi-detached chalets to be comfortable and reasonably spacious which also included an outside sitting area. An adequate breakfast was included in the rate whilst dinner was either a buffet or a snack-style a-la-carte menu. We found the buffet very average but that the snack menu surprisingly good and... This is a quaint place which is ideal for those with a passion for birds in particular but also for monkeys and frogs. The twin rooms are clean but basic with a rustic charm but totally adequate especially as most visitors are here I'd guess to view the wildlife. Air conditioning, room safe, shower and terrace are standard. A walkway... More

You need to manage your expectations when staying here. It sells itself as an eco-tourism destination and it does a very good job of being one. If you're looking for five star luxury then you shouldn't come here. If you're here to view Costa Rica's wildlife and scenery with minimal impact on the environment then this hotel is probably the... Although room was small, and we had to ask management to unscrew the windows so we could enjoy the breezes (we like fresh air rather than air conditioning), we enjoyed our stay. It was nice to read on the porch hammock, surrounded by vegetation and birds. Unfortunately, when it got dark there was a VERY bright light outside our window... More

This hotel would get 4 stars if it had some updating done to it. It's a bit run down, but clean and has alot to offer. Trails, a river, pool, butterfly garden, ponds, etc. The food was very good at the restaurant.

Don't let my three stars put you off this hotel. Maybe the bathroom doors don't close completely, or the door to the neat little patio doesn't latch 100%, or the finishing and fitting of components left a bit to be desired...the bottom line is that we really enjoyed this place. The open air concourse just off the lobby is basically... More

Reception was friendly and efficient. Having visited this establishment some years ago, I was looking forward to seeing what changes had been made: fortunately very few. This is not a B&B hotel, rather a lodge for naturalists who can enjoy the bird-life and vegetation. The rooms are adequate although some rooms (and bathrooms) could usefully benefit from a lick of... This hotel is described as "a mid-range lodge" and coming as it did sandwiched between two exceptional hotels did these premises no favours. The reception was small and poorly lit,two travellers sat, feet on table, had "Basil Faulty" appeared I would not have been surprised. We were taken along an open air passageway which served the single storey accommodation . The rooms were... More

We really liked this hotel. The reception area and the restaurant is an open area without walls in the middle of a nice garden. The breakfast and dinner buffets are good (but not excellent) for Costa Rican standards. You can see a lot of birds in the garden and there are some short footpaths in the surrounding "jungle". The location... More
