“Clean, Simple, and Inexpensive!”

We showed up to Cahuita with no reservation for lodging, and found Cabinas Smith 2 (the cheaper option of both lodgings). The owner showed us a room, and right away we noticed how clean and well-kept it was, and for only $16 a night we got a good comfortable bed, private bathroom, and even our own little hammock out front.... We visited Cahuita eleven years ago, and had good memories of our stay at Cabinas Smith, a simple but decent cabin, run by a very friendly family. When returning there this year, we were happy to see that Cabinas Smith is still going, and has even opened an "economy" annexe, which is where we stayed this time. For just 16... More

I have stayed at these cabinas three times, and it's always a good experience. There's hot water, a refrigerator, and it's clean. The pillows could be better, but hey -- it's cheap and clean! The fan works, and there's good ventilation. All in all, I'd recommend this highly for anyone. More

I used to live in Costa Rica (2002-2006) but had never stayed in Cahuita before. I was travelling with three other people on this trip. I booked this through a Tico friend. There are two Cabina's Smith - we stayed at the one closer to the main street (further from the beach) - but I think the same people own... More
