Casitas de Punta Uva are comprised of one large (Casa de Monos) and two smaller rental houses (Casita de Toucans and Casita de Sloths) perfectly located to enjoy a five minute walk to the famous Punta Uva Beaches on the Caribbean Sea. Our affordable rental houses are equipped for a clean, comfortable, unique and earthy Caribbean Costa Rican vacation. Each house has a fully-stocked kitchen, cozy living spaces, large beds, and relaxing porches. Open air living and fans ensure a constant coolness to your stay.Enjoy cooking for yourselves (if you desire) in the large, fully-equipped kitchen (fridge, oven, stove, large countertop, pots/pans/cutlery/dishes) and hanging out comfortably while eating, drinking or talking the night away. Casitas de Punta Uva is perfectly located about 10 minutes outside of the busy and exciting Puerto Viejo "town". Close enough to visit all the restaurants, art galleries, bars and shops, but far enough away to enjoy the pure nature that surrounds us here in the jungle. We are located in the Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge (rainforest) but are just across the street from the famous Punta Uva beaches. Casitas is on the main coastal road and while not as "busy" as Puerto Viejo, we do have plenty of bars, restaurants, grocery stores and tours right in our area. We truly are perfectly located to be in the center of the whole area for a great adventure based vacation. Our property is large, manicured for beauty and is full of fruit trees including starfruit (carambola), guayaba, limon de dulce, bananas, plantains, and manzanas that we love to share with our guests. My husband, Carlos, and I live on property to make sure each of our guests gets what they need when they need it. English and Spanish is spoken here.

My girlfriend and I just got back from our second stay at this property and are already planning our next trip. It is located a few kilometers south of Puerto Viejo in the much quieter Punta Uva. We rented bikes during our stay and it's an easy ride to all that P.V. has to offer, but so much more relaxing than actually staying there. The Casitas are nestled right at the base of the hills that rise up into the forest. The howler monkeys are more reliable than any rooster. We saw lots of them as well as a couple of sloths and countless birds. It really feels like you're vacationing at the edge of the jungle with just a short walk to the beautiful, quiet beach. The homes are both rustic and comfortable at the same time. One stop at the grocery store on the way into town and we had everything we needed for our week. The kitchen is well stocked to prepare your own meals. Having the owners living in one of the homes on the property is a great comfort. They are wonderful hosts. Helpful and available if you need them and at the same time respectful of your privacy. One thing I learned after my first trip to this paradise is to make sure you bring bug spray! The Caribbean coast comes alive at night with insects that love to feast on pasty gringos like me. I brought both a can of Deep Woods spray and towelettes this time and they left me in peace while I sat on the front porch at night. Can't recommend this place enough. Do yourself a favor and take a picture of your faces on the day you arrive and then on the day you depart. You will be amazed at the difference this magical place makes.

Carlos, his family, and the casita are a secret gem in the Puerto Viejo and Punta Uva area. Just a short walk to the beach and the jungle in your front yard. WiFi router is in each casita. The kitchen opens up to a bar/patio with great seating and hammock to watch and listen to the monkeys in the tree above. Bring food! Cute little kitchen to make meals, stocked with utencils including coffee maker and blender.

We just returned from 5 days stay at Casitas de Punta Uva and can't say enough good about it. We loved it! Carlos and Anke were very understanding and flexible when our travel plans changed suddenly at the last minute, twice! And they made our stay wonderful. About the only complaint my 4 yr old had was he wanted to play with their 4 yr old, Tomas, much more than he had time to do. And my 7 yr old wished for more kids her age, but it was school days for Tico kids. The Ginger Casita was large and airy, loved the open floor plan, cool at night which was perfect. We loved being nestled in the jungle, with howlers and toucans and agoutis to visit in the mornings. Our kids, aged 4 & 7 enjoyed wandering the grounds in the early morning hours discovering all the animals and trees and plants. The beach is a short 50m walk away, though we walked a bit further down, closer to the point, to play in the water as the beach was a bit calmer there for our little ones. An easy walk, nicely shaded beach, and sloths in the trees and turtles in the estuary. My 4 yr old put on his big sister's fins and snorkel today and said "I'm ready to go back to Punta Uva! And I want to play with Tomas!" The Casitas were perfect for our family.

I have to say; the place turned out to be way better than we expected. Casitas are big, well equipped and well kept. Front wall of the kitchen opens up to the porch creating a sort of open bar - perfect for morning coffee or evening drink. Plenty of jungle sounds, the casitas are tucked into the jungle making it possible to see some animals. We saw monkeys, blue morphos, some birds. Everything you night need is in walking distance: grocery stores, bakery, plenty of restaurants and of course the beautiful Punta Uva beach. You can rent a bike and visit nearby town and reserve of Manzanillo or never-ending party in Puerto Viejo. Perfect for family stay: quiet, secluded, yet close enough to everything. Our 3 years old daughter really loved staying there, especially walks in a big garden on the property. The owners Anke & Carlos are very knowledgeable and helpful and would make sure your stay will be a pleasure. Thank you guys for all!

This is the place you want to be! As soon as I walked into the house we were renting I wanted to ask Carlos if I could just stay forever. The houses are wonderful, comfortable and the showers warm! The outdoor showers are even better! It's conveniently located far enough away from the hubbub of Puerto Viejo but still close enough to bike to. We saw capuchin monkeys in the trees outside our house the first morning. Anke and Carlos are so friendly and helpful. The casitas are close to numerous gorgeous beaches and there are bikes available to rent. If you are looking for a tranquil place to relax, listen to the sounds of the jungle (you will hear howler monkeys every morning) and go to the beaches everyday this is the perfect place to stay.

This place is amazing! Carlos, Anke and Tomas are incredible hosts. The place has so much to offer. Beautiful Punta Uva Beach one of the most incredible beaches to just rest, do some paddle boarding with Carlos' fantastic Paddle Board Tours, he has all the appropriate equipment to have lots of fun, exercise, and get to see amazing sea life and awesome scenery. Casitas are located couple miles away from the town of Puerto Viejo where you can have great gourmet food at Puerto Viejo Bakery owned by a local Costa Rican chef, and Cafe Viejo and amazing and delicious Italian restaurant. At Casitas one can feel in the middle of the lushes Costa Rican rain forest sharing with rainbow toucans, howler, white face, and spider monkeys. In addition, you can rent cruise bikes and just ride everywhere between Puerto Viejo, Cocles, Chiquita, Punta Uva, Manzanillo, and Gandoka which is a National Reserve. Either you want to rest or adventure Casitas de Punta Uva is the right place to stay!!!

The place is fantastic! .... a few casitas surrounded by the Caribbean jungle, has a super good location: walking distance to beautiful beach, really close to other amazing beaches, (8 min to Manzanillo), and to the Puerto Viejo town. Also close to several good restaurants. I assure you will have a great stay!

This was our first visit to Costa Rica, and first vacation experience outside an "all-inclusive" hotel. This private property is perfectly located in the lush jungle, with the sounds of wildlife to keep you company (especially the hords of howler monkeys!), within a 5 min. walk to one of the nicest beach in the Costa Rica. My best memories of this vacation are of long walks on this beach, with only a few people in sight, the magnificent nature, untouched by man, almost touching the pristine waters. We slept for the first week in casita Toucan, perfect for 2 couples or for a family of four. The house was impeccably clean at our arrival, and Jessica waiting for us, even if we arrived later than expected. We took the long road to get there, from San Jose to Puerto Viejo, and, with no GPS, got lost a few times... but... beautiful sceneries! About the house, I can add that the bed was incredibly comfortable (a king bed!) and the linens brand new. The house is fully screened and you can lock it completely if needed. But there is always someone, and a nice dog, on the property so you can always feel safe. The open air kitchen is fully equiped, and it is pleasant to cook fresh food that you can easily buy at the markets. If you prefer to go to restaurants, you have plenty of all sorts of restaurants near by... I would defenitely recommend Selvin's, 300 meters away, as a great quality-price choice! We thought that, from Punta Uva, we would move to another vicinity for our second week but... we were so comfortable at the casitas de Punta Uva, that we decided to stay...Furthermore, Jessica offered us their biggest house, Casita de Monos, at the same (already low!) price as the smallests houses, for our second week (the smallest were rented...)... We couldn't refuse! And didn't regret it! The casita de monos is much bigger than the other two, with a big terrasse, with hamac, and kitchen on the first floor, a nice salon, with 3 bedrooms, and bathroom, on the second floor. Again, bedrooms are fully screened, with ceiling fan, and we always were comfortable sleeping because the temperature goes down to 20 degrees celsius at night... My only, and it is really my ONLY complaint, and it is not our guests fault, was that a neighbour's dog decided to bark, and howl, all night... for 3 nights in a row... For me, it was very disturbing, as I have very sensitive ears, but my boyfriend was able to sleep... But, you have to know that, in Costa Rica, the sun sets early... and rises early too (as the birds do!)... so, the best is to follow the natural rythm of the forest... I haven't told you yet what is the best about Casitas de Punta Uva: our guests! Jessica and Juan are really...perfect! They completey respect your intimacy, are always present to help you with your every needs, to answer every question you have, to recommend you nice things to do, or where to go... They really put all their hearts into what they do and we found us very lucky to have met them! At last, do not miss the occasion to have a guided tour of the forest with Tino (Fiorentino), at Manzanillo-Gandoca's reserve! The only way to really discover this incredible jungle! It was worth every penny!!
