My wife and I visited Costa Rica in May '12. We did not have any plans on exactly where we were going to stay in Manuel Anotnio but wanted to be close to the park and the public beach. We found Hotel Verde Mar in Frommers 2012 guide. I called the night before we arrived and reserved a gorgeous room... More

Location! Location! Location! Does it get any better than this - being so close to Manuel Antonio beach and hearing the waves crashing right outside the window? I submit that it does not! After bicycling up from Panama, Verde Mar and the hospitable and friendly staff were more than just a relaxing stop along the journey... It was a highlight!... More

The hotel is in an excellent location. As we found out, the strange thing about the Manuel Antonio is that the "nicer" hotels are up the hill. Apparently they have a great view, but you'd have to cab/drive to get to the beach or national park. The more budget hotels are closer to the beach. This one was, I thought,... More

Very simple, laid back, beach front hotel with a pool. Great option for families. We stayed 4 nights Mid April, family of 4 ( children 5,6). Originaly had reservation at another hotel, but due to overbooking/reservation error moved to Verde Mar hotel. Overall everything worked out even better for us - wonderful staff, great location; simple, clean accomodations. Would consider... More

When we arrived they wanted to give us a small dark room in an unfinished building where workiers were walking around and the smell of paint and lacquer was overwhelming. We had paid for eight days in advance - after three days in a the dark room over the office we decided to leave and they promised to give us... More

this hotel is nicely located just a walk from the national park, and it has access to the beach, the rooms are well equipped and cozy, another plus would be if they offer breakfast like most of the hotels in the area, but even so, being that close to the beach and not having to worry about where to park... We stayed here for 2 nights and the staff at the hotel accommodated us excellently after we had a bad experience in another hotel. Room was spacious and came with a kitchenette, which we did like. Only a walking distance to the national park and the Manuel Antonio village + next to the beach. This is an excellent value in... More

This is by far the best place to stay in Manual Antonio if you are wanting to stay right on the beach and also have a pool. The hotel is quiet, the air conditioner works great and having a fridge in your room is incredibly helpful. The staff is wonderfully accommodating and while we were there a sloth was living... More

Supposed to stay a day or two but stayed 6 days. All you need-clean rooms, cold A/C,hot water, within walking distance to beach, national park, grocery, restaurants. Staff were friendly and informative. Sloth in the tree near pool and monkeys in the mornings. Did not want to go home. Lobby has a restaurant with good food. Beach has a restaurant... More

Our excellent Costa Rican advisor, Catalina Cuevas, recommended this small hotel. Otherwise, we would never have been likely to select it from its website. Rooms are comfortable and rooms with kitchens (referred to as suites) are available. The staff is friendly and helpful. The best part is that it is not up on the cliffs where the larger hotel properties... More
