Overpriced yes, in the middle of the city, yes. They have different kinds of rooms - from suites to small rooms with 2 tiny beds (I could not even fit on that bed and I am 6'1). So when booking make sure you know what kind of a room you are getting. If the windows of your room look to... More

I wrote a review about this hotel three days ago and it has not been posted to the site, I will try again. Please keep in mind that I have not visited Costa Rica for almost ten years, (spending all my vacation time in Guatemala). The wife and I love Costa Rica and may be going back this year. Our... More

We booked two nights for our last days in Costa Rica before flying back home. I'm sure I could have gotten a nicer place for less money. The room was small and dark and hot. In order to cool off you had to open the window, but that made the loud noises of the courtyard disturbing us from getting good... More

Carlos is a homophobe! I will explain that later. Checking in I saw the rate wasn't the same as I reserved online, but didn't say anything because it wasn't much more and it seemed nice enough. That should been the first warning. I get to my room and there is no power. They say they will have it fixed soon.... More

This was the Grand Hotel of Costa Rica in its hay day...but that was a long time ago. They have redone the rooms and removed the casino from the lobby..but it's still an old hotel. The high points are the outdoor dining, people watching and its central location. More

The outside is all the rest is just awful. Old dirty shabby. unhelpful impolite staff. Very small rooms with a giant central AC equipment outside your window making a terrifying noise. More

After staying in a cabin for a week, it was a nice treat for us to relex and going around the down for a day. They have everything you need around there. We went to mama' place and el patio del balmoral for a food and drink. Both places are influence by American food so that you can comfortablely close... More

We stayed here for one night before we started a whirlwind tour throughout the rest of the country. We had a lot of rooms reserved and they were all very different even though they were all called superior suites. Two did not have airconditioning and it was hot. We tried to sleep with the window open, but it was so... More

My wife and I stayed there because I was attending this was the conference hotel. It's right in the heart of San Jose. The superior rooms are nice, spacious and comfortable. The outside cafe was very good. it's near the museums as well. San Jose is not exactly charming, but the museums were good. More

If you must stay in San Jose this hotel is pleasant, clean and interesting and the staff friendly. Restaurant is also ok. Breakfast upstairs in the ballroom was nice. Our room was not what we booked but they moved us to another larger nicer room becase we asked. Single pane windows and lots of street noise outside, paper thin walls... More
