My family and I went for five days in August. We were ruined by the experience. Now nothing else compares to the beauty of the wilderness and the wildlife. The accomodations were excellent and the food superb. Luke, one of the guides and the son of the owner was well seasoned and willing to do any activity we had in... More

We had a great 4 nights here. The cozy cabin was better that I expected. Josh, "Mac" and Garrett were excellent guides and thoughtful in helping in every way. The food and homemade bread was a big hit...thanks for everything!! If you want to view wildlife, this is the place!!

I was here in July 2011 and was lucky enough to return for another 4 nights in mid May 2012. Truly, it felt like coming home. Weather was fabulous, new cook, same comfy room. Excellent new boat for amazing wild life viewing...lucky enough to see pods of orca, humpback family with breaching calf and fin whales; plus the usual mammals... More

Totally unprepared for wonderful hospitality. Luke who "does what he can" is knowledgable, and heaps of fun. Great support "acts" all around but the marine and bear life are the true stars. First time fishing netted me a 65lb halibut. Whoo hoo. I even filleted it. Interesting guests, cosy accommodation, great boat and a brilliant bear called Sissy. Didn't want... More

Afognak Lodge is a place I thought only existed in my imagination. It is the land before time where nature has not been touched. Soaring eagles, free swimming otters, wild salmon, massive halibut, spouting humpback whales and huge Kodiak bears rule this island paradise.

We spent our fourth Alaskan lodge vacation with the Randalls and loved every day. The lodge is capably managed by Shannon with sons Josh and Luke. Each person brings strong skills to make Afognak a well maintained operation. And each will go out of their way to make your visit a success. This season’s hardworking staff includes a wonderful cook... More

I had the privilege of traveling to the Island of Afognak this summer. My trip there was very pleasant. I have been in a few parts of Alaska before but wanted to experience some of the wilderness areas. So when I was invited to go to Afognak, I was very excited. My travel itinerary was planned out for me and... More

This was the second time that my wife and I utilized Afognak Lodge and mainly for wildlife (bear) viewing and photography. Our first visit was in the Fall of 2007 and we had a great time. The wildlife viewing at that time was fantastic as we trekked through the rain forest and saw over ten bears, The fishing, both salt... More

Afognak Wilderness lodge is not a Hyatt or a Hilton or a Four Seasons for that matter, yet it is similarly civilized. If you want those standard travel experiences you have many choices. However, if you want to experience real wilderness with a bunch of interesting people then Afogank Wilderness Lodge is highly recommended. We went there for fun and... More

Afognak Wilderness Lodge is an extraordinarily unique experience. So why did I give it only three stars? I wanted to give it five stars and I wanted to give it one star so I gave it the average. Let me tell you why. The lodge is unlike anywhere the writer of this review has ever been before. The experience is... More

When guests want to reserve an additional day or more to their vacation with us, they must be very explicit, in writing, before their arrival date AND they must have secured a copy of our verifying invoice. We have maintained very high standards for 34 years, with many repeat & referred national & international guests. We provide a wide array... More
